Opperman,

As you follow the sport far more than I do, I will put it down to bad information I am reading in the papers that revenues have still not reached the levels pre-last strike. As always the media do like to hype things up when there is a potential catastrophe in the making.

One observation however, my company have 2 suites at Turner Field which I have used from time to time for customers. I have yet (personally)to see a sellout for a Braves Game and that includes some post season games. I have never understood this and can't decide if it is a) Just coincidence associated with the games I have attended  A problem specific to Atlanta or c) An attendance problem with baseball in general. The Braves have been a good team year after year for the last 10-11 years.

These stupid, greedy baseball players are starting to make me sick. But I'm still going to the White Sox/Devil Rays game this Saturday. Everybody look for me, I'll be rooting for one of my boys the Big Hurt. And my Cards are still the best team in baseball(even if they don't have the best record).

Well, many of the major media outlets are owned by companies that also own teams...they aren't going to report the truth about themselves accurately when it shows they're lying.

I think it's a combination of a and b...the Braves' fan base seems so used to success that they don't care until the NLCS or the WS. Dunno why, but their drawing power is terrible for a market like Atlanta.

You may be correct about Atlanta. I usually listen to the post game radio on the way back to my hotel after a game at Turner Field just to help me understand enough that I can with a talk with tiny measure of inteligence to clients who genuinely love the game. The thing that has always befuddled me is how unapreciative the fans are down there when they call in. Most cities would love to have a team the quality of the braves, however it appears to be a city that only a Title makes for a good season. Likewise, most Sundays you can get tickets for a Falcons game (apart from the Superbowl season).

I am glad to say that most fans in Tennessee are not that way. I think the success of Titans support has surprised a lot of folks in the country.
