So what you're saying "brand new member" is that you want to get locked out right away from the site??? Read the message board rules. Follow them. As for your accusations I suggest you call the TSSAA and report the facts you know....if you know any. If you really do know this is going on you should report it. But don't be afraid to give your name and offer to testify. The TSSAA can usually do something when they have those kind of facts. However if you're afraid to give your name and afraid to testify you never should have said anything at all.

DL.

I have re-read the rules and was wondering if you could clarify exactly which one it was that I broke. All I was saying was I thought they were a private school because they have had several players transfer from other schools to play there and I did not think that was something a public school could do. Is that wrong of me to say?

Signal Mountain has had great success with their JV schedule this year. They are averaging almost 50 points per game and only giving up about 8. I??™m sure this game will be about the same as the rest. Although CCS coaches were at SM??™s last home game scouting and I??™ve been told they are putting a lot of focus on this game (but that is just a rumor since I don??™t have first hand knowledge). Hopefully this will be a good game and not as lopsided as the other SM games.

SM has a very good young team. There are several players that came to SM from private schools, but they live on Signal. If you look at the current rosters for the private schools in the area for all sports you would find most still have Signal kids on them.

1) Kids live in Lookout Valley, Hixson, Ooltewah and other places.

2) Your playing non-starters

3)Be ready for 2009 it will be different, Signal has made alot of coaches mad!

I believe it was the insinuation they were recruiting players that prompted the response. It wasn??™t that you called them a private school.

???I just assumed they were a private school since their coach is so actively recruiting players to go there. I thought public schools could not recruit players.???

This is a new school all the students are transfers. The only students legal to play at the varsity level are transfers from other public schools that live in the zone for the new school, or students transferring from a private school that have been granted a hardship by the TSSAA. Since football is only JV this year, which was mandated by the TSSAA, all players are eligible. This is not the case for Basketball or other sports in which SM will have a varsity team. If a student transferred from a private school and didn??™t receive a hardship from the TSSAA they will only be eligible to play at the JV level until the students last participation date in a sport at the private school.

Every student going to school at SM has been approved by Hamilton County and if they are participating in sports they have been approved by the TSSAA.

Signal Mtn in a rout 50 to 6

The SM air attack was put on hold tonight because of the very wet and sloppy night. So SM was forced to go it on the ground and only managed to put 70 on the board.

SM 70 - CCS 20

CCS had a couple of big plays they recovered their own fumble and took it for a touchdown and returned one of the many kickoffs for a touchdown

    • For perspective the county school I’m associated and graduated from only has 7,600 people in the entire county with a median age of roughly 47. That’s not very many 14-18 year olds to choose from. I think the football team had 25-28 kids or around there.  On the other hand Shelby County has 916,000+ with a median age of 36. This isn’t just about Shelby county, but all the big ones with huge economic advantages!  An urban/rural split would benefit tons of smaller schools that have to compete with counties with 120x the amount of people. Especially the ones who can pick and choose their players from a pool like that!   I also agree with Pujo about charter and magnets and they will eventually be phased into the private divisions because it is obviously an advantage plus all the funding! Add that county schools can’t go recruit outside of their county like charters and magnets!
    • They should be starting next week and go from there.  They never do Spring Practice in April
    • It will be interesting to see if the Warren County School District allows this to go before a jury or they settle out of court before going to trial.  My guess is that this case never goes to trial.  If this goes before a jury, they could award even more than the $750K.  I was on a jury where they were asking for 185K and were awarded 1.2 million.  You never know what will happen in that jury room.
