Yes 5A it is, I think South will be a good team next year also. We will be returning some starters on both sides of the ball as well as alot of guys who got alot of playing time this year with the blow outs we had, they will have plenty of game time experience under thier belts.

Look out for Science Hill next year.Tennessee High will have a good group as well.I wouldn't worry about Dobyns- Bennett ,they will be somewhere down in the pack and it's a matter of how hard they work to move up a little bit by next year. Some are talking about Davy C having one of their best teams in years and Dan Boone fans are saying they will have a very good team as well.

I know this season is over, but i was wondering what south will have next year on the football team to help them prepare for the new teams? Thanks......

#2 definately proved himself to be a force to be reckoned with. How many recievers are returning? I also sat in the rain in Elizabethton this year before the game and watched the qbs throwing bombs in the rain with little to no effort. Maybe not as good in that area, but give it time. I think Coach is smart enough to go with what works. What worked this year that I know will return is the Blue Duece.

who will be the qb and running backs next year? is the bobby kid the only returner back or do they have others we dont know about. off line?

Well, the last time I did this, one of the South's parents climbed my butt, because my opinion left their son out, but here goes:

QB--Aaron St.Clair, Senior, with Junior Heath Haden making a run, but Aaron will prevail.

RB--Boobi Taylor, Wes Williams, both Seniors, with Jordan Cassell and Hubbard (both Juniors) possible stepping up.

Center-- Junior Nick Solt, returning from 1st team OT.

OG---Senior returner-All Conf. Ryan Fuller on the right side, and Taylor McGothlin, Senior, on the left.

OT---Returning Seniors, Sam Conaway and Zach Ervin

Jake Logue, Senior, defensive starter, could also help on Offensive Line, as well as Sophomore C.J.Morelock who

had a great freshman season. Austin Hyder, if he improves his footwork and footspeed.

TE---Returning Senior, Ty Garvin, and returning Senior, Clint Phillips

WR----Returning seniors, Seth Waterson, Dillon Ellis and Ashton Zanoni. Will need to find a 4th--may come from Jordan Cassell, Drew Shanks, Cody Shipley.

Def:::

Linebackers---Returning All-Conf. Seniors Ty Garvin and Clint Phillips on the inside. Caleb Anderson, Senior, could

take over one of the outside spots left by TJBlanken,--- and Aaron St.Clair, Senior, on the other side, but doubt

the starting QB will play defense-------look for Sophomore J.C. Garvin to make a bid for that spot. There's also

Juniors Hubbard, Griggs, and Senior Long --all there to make a stand for a starting LB spot.

Nose Tackle----??? Just don't know--it's wide open for someone to "meanup" and take.

DT---Retuning senior, All-Conf Jake Logue and senior Dillon Hammonds.

Corners---Returning Junior Taylor Rowland and returning Seniour-All Conf Safety Ashton Zanoni.

Safeties----Returning Seniour Dillon Ellis and Junior Jordan Cassell--is my prediction.

I believe this about does it--I wish I had a program handy---may have left out a few.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
