last night i went to a middle school game and stopped by cumberland gap on the way home, to see how they were doing against hancock. i was surprised when i walked into the gym, and noticed to my surprise, that the middle school had three times the fans as the high school! The gym was empty except for the parents of the players! what"s it going to take for cumberland gap to get back the support of the community? I have my own thoughts about where the team spirit went but that's probably best left unsaid !!!

Maybe it went to the middle school. It would probably be best if possible to avoid scheduling the same night. I know some nights that's not possible.

last year fans watched middle school games, after game they then went to the gap to finish out the evening. Guess they must have lost interest in the high school program. you tell me what"s going on? It bothers me to see this lack of enthusasism and support in the community! By the way, I know the gap girls are overflowing with talent and it's just not being brought out, they are losing to weaker teams. what's the problem?????

Maybe they need entertainment at halftime like a juggler, I don't know.

maybe that would help because they certainly need something to inspire them. wonder what the administrators of the school thinks about their teams playing to an empty house?? maybe when it starts hitting their program monies they will take interest and make some much needed changes!!

i too have wondered where the crowd has went it certainly has dwindled down. apparently the principal isnt too concerned about this but why should he be? maybe the next one will take more interest and make the necessary changes. i have heard that its already in the works for next season!

    • When she starts farting around with the football team the powers in Maryville will run her out of town on a rail and everyone connected with letting her in the door. You saw what happened when Alcoa's radio announcer thought he was coming to Maryville, the people rose up and stopped it.
    • 20 but had 5-6 not dressed every game. It went down towards the end due to injuries and obviously only 15 got to dress for the state tournament. Then, they only lost 2 from this year and gain 8 from the middle school for next year
    • As somebody mentioned before, this is going to result in a massive lawsuit, can you imagine professional "educators" actually having the conversation about getting "the bad kids" out of the high school?  And the head coach asking directly to change grades, gets turned down, comes back again and gets it approved?  This is unbelievable.  In addition to the lawsuit, the state Department of Education is going to come down extremely hard on this.  WYSH is on the war path.  There could be dozens more lose their jobs by the time this is over.  And yeah the real shame is the kids being affected that literally had nothing to do with this and actually worked hard to earn their grades.
