jcub50
Destroyed. If by that you mean that a team is beaten so bad and ran so hard one night that it actually causes them to lose to an enferior team the next. I'd say that you'd have to say Central destroyed Polk. Meigs fans that I talked to said that Polk just quit, and played like they were completely exhausted. As for the hope of the next time. The only reason that the first game was so close was the absence of one of last years starters, plus the "pre-Adams" coming out. Not saying that Polk can't win, but it will take Central playing WAY below their ability for that to happen. Like I said, I was there, they were not destroyed. Polk played horrible, and according to a few Central folks, thats the best Central has played in a very long time. You cant miss that many wide open shots, free throws, and have that many turnovers and win. Especially against a team that is as deep and talented as Central. As for losing to an inferior team, didnt the same thing happen last yr to Central against Brainerd? They played horrible and got beat. It happens, no matter who you are or how good you are. I never said Polk would win. Central SHOULD win it all this yr. Whether they will or not is another story. Past history is not on their side. The team they had with Fallon Lee, Housely, and Patterson was one of the best teams I have seen and they just couldnt get over the hump. And just my opinion, that team is much better than this one. I, for one, hope if Polk doesnt win it, Central does......

I, for one, hope if Polk doesnt win it, Central does...... Central didn't lose last year to Brainerd. They lost TWO years ago to Brainerd at Brainerd. They haven't lost in the district for two consecutive seasons. I think Central was able to get the press rolling against Polk in their second meeting. (It's been tweaked a bit.) That led to a lot of turnovers by Polk. It also led to second half fatigue which resulted in missed FTs. I will not say that Central should win it all, because I haven't seen everyone in the state play. They should be able to make it to substate. After that, anything can happen. We've been down this road too many times to ever say we SHOULD win it all. I like our chances, but it certainly isn't inevitable.
