I agree with lilcoach7. Until someone can beat Bartlett when it counts, they are the team to beat. Tonights game, Bartlett v. Collierville should be a preview of the region championship game. Should be a fun game to watch. Both of these teams should be representing West TN at state this year. Collierville had hot bats last night against Arlington and sophomore Tyler Dailey shut down the Arlington hitters.

He is also done after 1-2 innings and from what I "heard" he is also suspended from playing at least the first game. He does throw in the lower 90's but it all over the place. He is young though and hopefully can get more control. Very nice kid though.... Who is Bartlett's back up catcher and why did he quit? I guess he will be suspended from another game. Like craigmont, raleigh egypt. So i guess some kids get the old double standard. Its ok you can play because this is a important game.

It is the top of the 4th right now and Bartlett is winning 2-0 against Collierville. Morton is not in but he played last night against Germantown, both teams have their lefty pitchers in tonight-agree about the double standards!!!!

First of all I would like to know where you people are getting the information that the Morton kid is a stud. Sure he has touched 90 but that does not in any way make him a stud . To be a stud you have to control more than one pitch in the zone and get hitters out consitently. Also, you cant consider someone a stud that has just come out of Jv. Varsity is a completely different level. I do believe Bartlett has had their past success by being a team. There is no need to talk one player up more than another, last time i checked it takes 9 to win a game. By the way Good uck Panthers and don't hold your heads low over tonight its early and alot of time to step it up for when it counts.

well you are right, but you cant teach speed but all coachs think if a player can throw 90 + they can work on the control, they will take a player that throws 90 and all over the place and pass on the player who throws strikes, its nice to have a pitcher that throws high 80's to 90's but if they walk more than strike out well tell me who you rather have. I think the redbirds had a guy like that, i think he plays center field now

Morton played every inning, and caught every pitch for Bartlett against Collierville last night.

Like i said i guess, that suspension is teaching him a lesson, it must have slipped the coaches mind. I quess he not the type you make a example of. I quess talent makes a big decision in what type of punishment a player gets. Not knocking him i blame the coaches, some have to work and some get away with not trying. The old saying is life is not fair !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well said but you people need to get away from calling the kid a stud. he is fresh out of junior varsity . he will not be the determining factor in Bartlett's success. They will have to work as a team to come anywhere close to what the past three classes have accomplished. He throws upper 80's but get in a college and it is very average without good stuff

And you wouldn't want him on your high school team? I don't have a dog in this hunt but I have watched this guy play, usually from the opposite side of the field, since he was 7 or 8 yrs old and I would definitely say he has "studly" abilities. He has always been on teams that play at the highest level and has fared well, so fresh out of JV or not he has the ability to be great. Good luck to C'ville and Bartlett this year.

Daniel Wright pitched a great game against Germantown as well. I would bet money he will play at the next level after high school-just my opinion though

pretty sure i Heard he went 0 for at the plate. I am not saying he does not have the ability to be a great player . I am saying that you people on hear do not need to talk one player up more than another especially about the Bartlett Panthers. The past few years success has come out of teamwork not just oNE kid being a stud. This team will face many challenges this year and will need to rely on eachother not just one person. so let the yeaR play out before you start calling someone a stud. BTW I love how you compare 8 and 7 year old baseball to baseball at the highschool level. dont get me wrong I am a huge Bartlett fan and wish them the best of luck. I just think the other guys on that team and Morton dont need their heads filled with comments like that when they already have an enormous amount of pressure on them this year.

How do you figure they would win 2 of 3? Farragut was the better team, with the better players, and the better coach. Sounds like you Bartlett people are still bitter about Farragut beating you AGAIN in a state title game.

Maybe I haven't been poking around the baseball board long enough but I'm not sure anyone with "Trojan" in the name would be a Panther fan. I'm sure ya'll will fill me in.

On Farragut.....those guys are a machine. Super tough. Losing 2 out of 3 state championships to them hurts but that also means Bartlett has competed in 3 straight finals games. That just doesn't happen. ( unless you're Farragut,... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> )

I'm sorry but I can't help but be proud of that and every student that dawned a Bartlett uniform who made it happen.

As far as the thread is concerned, a topic like this is pointless and silly at this juncture of the season. Player maturation, team maturation, chemistry, injuries................so much baseball to be played. Pick favorites and all but it's pretty much meaningless right now.

As far as my Panthers go.........Can they make it back to state ? Yes. Will they in the end? Who knows. It's by no means a sure thing. It never is. Never was. It's baseball.
