Southern Open

Talked with Coach Brands in Atlanta and he said that the former GREAT tournament, the Southern Open will be revived this fall by the Chattanooga Takedown Club. This tournament has a long and great history...Dan Gable himself wrestled in it many years ago. Traditionally the tournament has been a fund-raiser for the UTC wrestling program. It will be sanctioned under USA Wrestling...entry fee will include membership in USAW. Details were finalized last night and flyers are being printed.

 

It looks like they are shooting for Thanksgiving weekend.

Will or can the TSSAA cause any problens to a wrestler that goes to this?

Are you saying that this will be a true "open" tournament with all ages competing, or do you mean only that H.S. athletes will be coming in from all over the country? Just wondering.

As long as you do not file your eligibility report until after the Southern Open you are good to go.
