When Cloudland decided (and it was THEIR choice) not to go by the TSSAA rules they lost their choice of where to play their Home Sub-State. Cloudland WILL play on the road, regardless of the outcome of the game. Poor decision making on someones part, and as usual, the kids pay the price for the next four years.

I knew that was the case. I hate it for Cloudland's team and fans though. It's not much of a reward to win the region and still make a 3 hour bus ride.

It's not "not going by the rules" if the TSSAA doesn't tell you that you can't play on your home floor. TSSAA never said a word to the Landers until AFTER the game was played and that's crap. I remember your Rangers playing Sunbright at Happy Valley when Dugger was still there. But a couple of years later in '04 and '05, Unaka played Cosby and Rockwood in sub-state at Snavely. With all the extra seats that Cloudland had out last year, there is no way that Snavely could hold more than Cloudland did last year...

I believe what happened is that tempoary seating doesn't count in the school's seating capacity. It has to be permanent seating (or that's my understanding). Even with the extra seats that were brought in last year I think Cloudland's gym only had seating for 700-800 people and I believe TSSAA rules say it must be 950 or 1,000 (not totally sure which).

When Unaka added the seats on the baseline, that gave them the required number of seats and they were permanent seats.

Rules are rules, not Cloudland's fault there gym is too small for TSSAA to make their money. Cloudland will play somewhere else win or lose. It is sad that if they win they travel that distance. They should be able to play in a neutral gym, but that is how the ball bounces, not whining or crying, just stateing opinion.

That kinda only makes it worse. So Cloudland puts bleachers on the stage, but they don't count as REAL seats? The TSSAA is a joke...

I don't know that for sure, that is just what I had heard. I actually put in a call to TSSAA this morning to check on what are the scenarios, but I haven't got a call back yet.

    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
    • This whole situation is bonkers. You don’t just kick your star player off the team just because you heard them say the F word; the coach definitely had something against the player, or somebody definitely did. Also, nobody has brought up the idea that the school blackmailed the college to get the college to withdraw the scholarship offer, not to mention that the coach who kicked her off is no longer even with the program; they were fired. I think this is a pretty easy lawsuit. I don’t know if she should deserve that much money, but I think she should get enough money for a full-ride scholarship if she cannot get one after this situation.
