Who is the best team in the knoxville area as well as the best player?

Farragut or Bearden

I've heard that Knox West is a dominant team but I figured since Farragut lost most of their seniors to graduation that they were down. I also heard Bearden would be OK but not as good as usual.

Knox Catholic will be really strong...they have a few guys out for injuries. I believe CAK and Alcoa will do well also.

I'm not trying to take anything away from akula, but I think if you include Alcoa in this then you've got to also consider Seymour. I think they are going to surprise some people this year, especially towards the end of the season when their younger guys get some playing time under their belt. The scrimmage at Bearden this Friday should be a good indicator as to what they could achieve this season.

Replacing the talent lost will take a while and I think the early results will show that...They will be there in the end for sure!

Maryville's fairly young so I'm not sure about that #2 rank. I agree with dins8 that Bearden should be included in this list.

Oak Ridge went deep in to the playoffs last year. Should they be listed in the top 5 or are they really that down this year?

I believe a lot of people will view the Oak Ridge win, while convincing, as a fluke or assume that OR is having a down year etc. If Seymour plays with and/or beats Bearden, I think that will add a great deal of credibility to the argument that Seymour should be considered one of the top teams in the area.
