My boys play football and my girls play softball so I don't visit the baseball thread too often. Cascade has got an awesome pitching staff this season. They now have recorded 20 consecutive innings of shotout ball and carry and 8-0 record. Got to be impressed by that no matter who you are playing.

Agree with that... /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Quick correction.....MTCS 16-10 over Harriman. Not 16-0. Thanks for the update CB

Yep, that "1" do make a difference. Weird game (for the masses reading this thread not at the game). Harriman scored 5 in the first and the 5th. MTCS scored in every inning. Up 8-5 at one point only to go behind 10-8. Tied it up in the bottom of the 5th, held serve in the top of the 6th and then plated 6 in the bottom of the 6th. LOOOOOONG game as well.

More games today -- can't wait...

Cascade is undefeated in the district, Eagleville & MTCS are tied for second at 3-1. Community is 3-3, Forrest 2-2, VB 1-5 and FC Boyd is 0-4. I look for Forrest to move up in the standings this week.

District games this week --

Forrest & Van Buren

Boyd & Cascade

MTCS & Community

Non-district games this week --

Eagleville plays Nashville Christian, Cornersville, Clarksville Academy, Perry County

F. C. Boyd plays Franklin County

Van Buren plays St. Andrews (Sewanee)

Forrest plays Marshall County, Mt. Pleasant

Cascade plays Columbia Academy

Community plays Hampshire

MTCS plays Nashville Christian, Summertown and Huntland

Probably a few holes in the above. Add 'em in if you know about 'em.

Cascade has a ton of pitching talent to go along with All-Region starter Josh Brown. Kyle Mullins in is now 3-0 in three starts this season. He recorded 12 K's yesterday in a no-hitter, bringing his 3 game total to 34 on the season. With those 34 K's, he has pitched 21 scoreless innings! He has only given up 3 walks in 21 innings for a better than 10-1 K/Walk ratio. Pretty darn impressive!

Mullins wins again

Last week:

Cascade wins two from Boyd and wins two out of district games as well.

MTCS wins two from Community and goes 1-2 in the Blackman "A" Tournament

Forrest wins two from Van Buren. Not sure what they did out of district.

Eagleville had a bye for the district. In the Blackman "A" tournament they beat Clarksville Academy and lost to Summertown in the finals.

In other out of district games, Community beat Hampshire, Boyd played Franklin County, not sure about Van Buren.

This week:

Forrest plays FC Boyd, Eagleville plays Community. Series of the week has to be Cascade playing MTCS. You have the KING OF THE HILL undefeated Cascade team (district champs the last two years, etc.) playing MTCS (which happens to be the former team of the Cascade coach). The lion's share of the MTCS players were Bassham's players for most of their careers. The weather will be a factor as well -- mental toughness will be key.

Cascade takes two from MTCS; Eagleville does the same vs. Community. Haven't seen the scores from Forrest vs. Boyd but I gotta believe Forrest won 'em both. Next week Forrest and MTCS battle while Eagleville takes on Cascade. I think Cascade can seal 1st in the district with wins vs. Eagleville. Eagleville still has Forrest to play as well the following week. While anything can happen looks like those three teams (MTCS, Forrest and Eagleville) are jockeying for the next three spots in the district.

The district picture is clearing up... Cascade wins the District again and along with it earns the #1 seed in the Tournament. #2 - 4 seeds are up for grabs at this point. MTCS still has Van Buren and the deciding series is Forrest vs. Eagleville. If they split and MTCS takes two looks like a coin toss may decide. Or, since there are three teams involved maybe they will use rock, paper, scissors!

Big series this week is Forrest vs. Eagleville. These two games will have an impact on tournament seeding.

In other action, Cascade plays Community and MTCS plays Van Buren.

If MTCS is able to win two vs. Van Buren, then a split between Forrest and Eagleville will leave a 3-way tie for 2nd with all three teams splitting in their contests against each other. Not sure what the district tie-breaker is in this case. All three lost both games vs. Cascade; all three swept the other teams in the district. Seems like it would probably come down to a coin flip.
