I know it's early but to stir up the juices for the season a little bit open conversation as to who is in the hunt for the 4a crown this year. Would really like to hear from some West Tenn. folk never seems to be any talk from us about doing anything. I know my juices kind of got going I just finished my last season of high school football for Jackson Southside and was blessed to get some sort of scholarship to play ball at the next level. And hearing all this talk about spring ball starting to get me going again.

First off, congratulations to hawkpower on your football scholarship! It's very exciting to see that your academic and athletic efforts have rewarded you in this way. Best of luck in college.

My early top ten teams:

East - Knoxville Fulton, Greeneville, Red Bank

Middle - Maplewood, Giles Co., David Lipscomb, White House

West - Dyersburg, Fairley, Jackson South Side

from what i hear Red Bank is the team to beat. a lot of offense back and 2 or 3 guys that were not eligble last year.

Red Bank should dominate in 4A. They have a lot coming back, plus like mentioned above they did have a couple of talented players from Tyner that were ineligible last year, and running back Keon Williams out of North Carolina. He is a monster back that has D-I size, strength, and speed. He was ranked as one of the top backs in North Carolina before he moved. He recently was at a combine in Atlanta and turned a lot of heads. Now he has some big schools looking at him.

There is only a few other teams that will challenge Red Bank and most of them won't see Red Bank until atleast the 3rd round of the play-offs.

I know it is very early and many teams have not even had spring football yet, but you cant count out Liberty Tech out of jackson. They opened some eyes last year and have almost everyone returning and their dropping from 4a to 3a. Their coach is supposed to be the real deal anyone know much about him?

With a much easier schedule than last year, don't know how playoff ready they will be. They have the horses to make a run, no doubt.

    • Wow I haven't been keeping up with softball had no idea.Been keeping up with baseball and we are slowly fading there.I will check it out!!Thx
    • It is what it is. Sorry DFL.
    • One of the biggest loosing teams in Mid-State are the Macon County Tigerettes. I have noticed that the roster is smaller than in the years past. All the senior's have quit. We have a great group of Jr High players coming up. I sure hope they don't loose them, like they have lost so many others this year. With this young group of girls coming up, a weaker district, they should have no problem going to State.
    • It was updated this season, because I did it.  Linder is the school's all-time leading rusher at 5,156 yards with 2,436 of those coming in 2014.
    • Oh, I’m sure you did. Maybe you heard just a rumor, but considering we have a football practice field and a soccer field that’s frequently used for lacrosse games and practices, I highly doubt it. Let me change that. I know for a fact that didn’t happen.   Glad you finally stopped attacking a bunch of high school students, but still obsessed with the coaching staff for some unknown reason, even though you could name more than three (at most) coaches without looking it up. But now come up with something else.
