Well friends some of my kinfolks wanted you to know who the top teams are in the different classes in the Mid-State and I thought I would try to help them out and let them see what me and ???Birdie??? think about the Mid-State teams. Now do not get this wrong folks this is not sayin that these teams will not be payin at the gate in the ???Boro??? but I do believe a large number will be gettin in for free!

Class A

5. Gordonsville---a big surprise for some but East of Nashville the Single A teams are down this year and if the moon lines up well these folks could be in there first trip to state for free.

4. Friendship Christian---has been several years since these ladies have not been to state a young pitchin staff and some new players who have had to step up but they have enough to get them back.

3. Summertown---these folks have had a habit of winnin and winnin for a very long time. They are comin out of some tough teams to make it but it is possible but I think they will have a very tough time. These ladies will play anyone and that is one of the many reasons that they are tough at district play-off time.

2. Forrest---could be a little bit of a surprise for some and after this weekend with there games with Cornersville should take care of number one in Single A. But I think that both of these teams should be in the ???Boro??? come next month. The most solid thing about these two teams is that both have excellent pitchin and a great defense!

1. Cornersville---Well me and ???Birdie??? saw them a playin in the border battle a few weeks ago and said that they are some big ole girls on that team. Well then they started to pitch the little yellow ball and it look smaller as it came to the plate. The defense is excellent, scoring was a little off but they were playin a good Sparkman team when we saw them. But just for some negative comments we are puttin them ahead of the school with the ???lights.???

Class AA

5. Loretto---yes folks I did take my happy pills today and findin a number 5 was very hard thing to do. I know that my best friend thinks that Spring Hill should be there or higher but this is a pretty balance district. One thing about these ladies is that they are winnin there district and for the time bein they get to be number 5. Do not get out seeing them much because they do not play in any tournaments in the Mid-State.

4. Lipscomb---they have a coach who has been around for a while and has been on the loser side for the last couple of years and they are playin pretty good. They did well in the Duff and finished second and heard they look pretty good from my umpire friends. But they will be one of the many teams payin to get into the big dance!

3. Dekalb County---has been winnin a few games this year and had great success last year and had to replace several key players but they have done that quit well. The word from the park was that they may have lost their number one pitcher for the rest of the year and if that is so it does not look very good to be back in the ???boro???.

2. Creek Wood---With a record of 25-8 and a young pitchin staff this team could make it back to the state after several years away. They should want to stay away from Camden as long as possible and if they do I do believe that they will have a great chance to make it back to the state. These will be one of a few teams who will make it to the 30 win column this year.

1. Goodpasture---with all of their fire power is there any doubt that they should be number one. With Cartwright leading the way they will have several teams that will challenge them for the title this year. When Unicoi County ( 30-1) plays Goodpasture this could be for all of the marbles and I would not bet that the East takes the crown back to the mountains.

Class AAA

5. Siegel--- (18-4) is has not been playin as good as they have and looks like they are not goin to win district. But I kind of know the coach and I think that they should make a good run but afraid that their year will not end at the State tourney. I do believe it will end in the ???Boro??™ but before the state starts!

4. Coffee County---(16-3) is my team this year but I do not think that they can make it all the way to the ???Boro??? The pitchin is a one two punch and the defense is good but scoring runs against top pitchers I just do not see it happenin another good year but not cigar!

3. Riverdale--- (26-4)has not played in as many tourneys (or games) this year because I do not think he has the pitchin to do that, plus the rumor around the park was that their girls were tired out by the time the big dance started. Each coach as their opinion and Coach Breeden has done a very good job but still not cigar in his case. With this team maybe or maybe not has to get by the East teams first.

2. Rossview---is (25-3) has already beaten Riverdale once this year and has lost to Beech a couple of weeks ago in the Kentucky Tourney. This team is a senior team with a good pitcher, excellent defense but not a scoring machine against good pitchin but for them to make it to the state they will need to stay away from Beech.

1. Beech--- (28-2) has it all this year to bring the cigar back to the Mid-State. Pitchin ain??™t bad, defense ain??™t bad either, scoring ain??™t bad either so until someone else can come up with a better team---and I know that the folks over on 840 believe that their team is a good as these but if you look at who they have played you will see they have NOT played as good of teams as the other schools. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />

With WC off, I had a chance to see dem Beech Ball ladies play H'ville bein dat if "H" won...it would help WC. Well, that didn't happen and I crawled back to my car thinking this. Either, H'ville just didn't play good over dem 2 days OR dem Beech girls are da real deal. Seein da score of the 2nd game has me agreein with your top pick.

I don't know "tater's" about some of them other teams, but I will agree that dem Beech girls, at this time, are the very best team in the State of TN and you can throw 'em all in there. That is, just a tad ahead of WC.

Tigerettes Finish Second in Duff Tournament

The Tigerettes went 4-2 over two days, including a 1-0 loss to Lincoln County Saturday, in the Duff Tournament Championship at Cookeville, and finished in second place.

DeKalb County split their first day of pool games on Friday, as they routed Clay County, 13-0, before suffering a 1-0 loss to Lipscomb. The Tigerettes plated a pair of runs in the top of the first inning against Clay County, got four more in the third, two in the fourth, then iced the win with a five-run fifth inning.

Morgan Page had a single, a double, a two-run home run and three total RBI's.

Olivia Norton earned the pitching win against Clay County, as she held the Lady Bulldogs scoreless on four hits ,with four strikeouts.

In the game against David Lipscomb, Morgan Page was injured on the play that eventually produced the only run in a 1-0 Tigerette loss. In the bottom of the second inning with a runner at second, Page fielded a liner then spun to look back the runner when the injury occurred. She was replaced in the pitcher's circle by Norton, who pitched the last four full innings.

Saturday opened for DeKalb County with wins over Murfreesboro Oakland and Lebanon, a pair of Class AAA teams out of District 7. The Tigerettes won both games by matching scores of 3-1.

Kayla Self stepped in to replace Page's spot in the rotation and allowed only two hits in six full innings, struck out two and walked one.

The win over Oakland gave the Tigerettes a 2-1 record in pool play, and the victory over Lebanon came in the opening round of single-elimination tournament play. Kristian Puckett had a three-run, fifth inning home run, a major factor in the victory.

In the pitching circle, Norton allowed one run on three hits to the Lady Blue Devils, with one strikeout and a walk.

A re-match with Lipscomb came in the semi-final round, and the Tigerettes pounced for a little payback in a 9-0 rout. DeKalb County roughed up the Lady Mustangs for eight hits, and Self allowed only two hits in five innings of work from the circle.

Alex Meadows and Kristina Stephens each knocked in first inning runs to launch the rout, while Puckett, Brooke Hutchings and Jaylen Garrett each produced RBI base hits in a six-run fifth inning. Stephens and Kara Young were also responsible for driving in a run apiece in the fifth.

The Tigerettes earned a second place finish at The Duff, after finishing third in the MTSCA Tournament, earlier this season.

Know doubt the top 5 teams will change after this weekend! What has happen to

Siegel? They are losing it at the wrong time, come on coach I have talked great about you and now is the time to get your team in the play-offs mode! /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />

Siegel is still winning in the district. They have had some injuries and have rested those players in the weekend tournaments. Their JV pitcher had to pitch at the Coffee Cty. tournament and as many as 4 starters were not in the lineup. They will be ready for district.

riverdale has more pitching this year than we ever have had. at the beginning of last year we had cat. we now have 3 solid pitchers. that is not why we haven't played in tournaments. we were in the commando classic which was rained out. we were in our tournament which we were unable to play in because of rain. we were in the mtsca tournament which we won. we were in the lincoln co border battle which we also won.

ARE Your tryin to indicate with yur first statement that ya'll got 3 D1 pitchers? DANG, I'm glad I brought my family north a couple of years ago so we didn't have to face all ya'll, and them D oners from Coffee County! Ya'll got more pitcher rotation all over the county than any other place I know. I know of 2-3 pitchers ya'll done run off down there in Worrior country that now think they is stars in other parts of Rutherford County....Is there some kinda special T$$AA rule that allows such player movement in Rutherford?
