Science Hill Fires Coach

Science Hill is looking for a new softball coach.

Did they fire her or just not renew her as a teacher? I'm told there will be several new coaches next year due to budget concerns within area school systems. A lot of teachers that just happen to be coaches will not have jobs next year because the school systems are trying to save money. A lot of non tenured teachers are being let go. Don't know what the case is here - just asking.

She couldn't have been at Science Hill that long..what happened? Are you sure it wasn't a job thing? Her teams performed well..I believe Science Hill has had state talent for about the last 4 or 5 years, but just couldn't hold it all together when they needed to. It's a young team now for whoever takes over.

Peterson was there two years. It was a combination of lots of complaints on the job and in the coaching ranks. I wish her luck.

The talent IS there, it just has to be handled right. And true, girl??™s sports at Science Hill and anywhere else for that matter, ever gets the attention the boy??™s sports do. Female sports have come a long way in the last 10 to 20 years.

Just a note: Of the 6 seniors graduating from SH, 2 are going onto college to play ball and 2 others have the opportunity to play also if they so choose.

With the right coach, I look for Science Hill to make another strong run for the conference title again next year. Boone will be the team to beat, I am sure.

She is an excellent coach!!! Look for politics to be involved.

I am not close enough to the Science Hill program to know what happened to Coach Peterson, so I will not comment. I believe Science Hill could be a state power in softball if the system decides to pursue it. They have always had talent, but have never had stability in coaching at the high school or middle school level. I would say contacting former Dobyns Bennett coach Jerry Higgins would be a good start if they are serious about building their program.

    • It was not ACHS at all, they have zero reason to worry about Clinton.  It had to do with a kid (non football player)  that had a charge and appeared in front of the juvenile judge.  The judge saw that the kid was way behind credit wise for his grade and told him to reappear in a month with a plan to graduate.  When the kid reappeared he had more that twice the credits than one month before.  The judge called BS and contacted the school.  That is what started the investigation.  This involves multiple students, but to this point no athletes are involved.
    • I believe the Covington Chargers travel to Trenton Peabody for a scrimmage today? Anyone going to this? Curious how the Chargers will do.
    • Good ole Bradley Zulliger. He was a really good QB @ OR. Fun to watch.  Wore #15 and was like a mini Tebow, with the exception of being right handed. He could take a pounding and keep on ticking. Played with a collapsed lung against Powell that year. Tough as nails.
    • They should be pretty good in year two for Rang.  Replacing most of the offensive production losing Dozier, Hayward and Rembert , but they're are skill kids in place ready for their shot.  I know I say this every year, but the o line should show improvement after two years in Rang and Kevin Day's weight program.  I still would favor West over Plow and OR come November.  The Rebs will have to grow up a bunch between now and then, and will probably take some lumps along the way with that schedule.  But I predict come playoff time they will be ready.   One of their coaches half joked to me that they could go 5-5 regular season and win the state championship.  Ha ha.
    • there will be a couple of teams, that could make some noise
