blind draws

Most of the team sports seem to generally have some of the best teams play the first round games against each other. Happens in hoops, baseball and soccer a lot due to the blind draws. Isn't the idea to have the best two teams play in the finals or at least the best two at that time. I agree with splitting the regions up into different brackets but shouldn't they also consider some type of rankings. I do understand rankings is not part of the TSSAA's job.

Same thread over in basketball back when Humboldt and Manassas drew each other in the first round. Blind draw is the fairest way to to do it. Does it work as far as putting the "best" two teams opposite so they can meet in the finals, not everytime. But it is the best way that they have come up with.

After seeing some of the "polls" by coaches, etc., Im not sure how you could "rank" teams. Some of these teams rankings is a joke. Schedule 30 middle school teams and you'll be in the top 2 or 3 in the state.

I think the blind draw is the best. Id only prefer that the draw be made BEFORE the teams are announced ( Winner of Subsection Game 1 vs Subsection game 5 for example). This way you'd know the Friday before the state which two teams you'd be playing the winner of and it would eliminate any thoughts that the brackets get stacked for one team or the other.

The "Blind Draw" is the only way to go. TSSAA needs to work on the price gouging issue, not rankings.

There is no way the "people" would except seeding. The luck of the draw removes all doubts. Just my humble opinion. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

After a team suffers a loss, they should be thrown over into the other half of the bracket to fight their way back to the finals. They shouldn't have to face the team they were defeated by again until the finals. So if the top 2 teams were to meet in the first round, because of the blind draw, they wouldn't meet again until the championship game.
