Chattanooga Christian over Sequatchie 50-41 in Chattanooga Tuesday night. Sequatchie did some good things, shot better from the field than CCS, had fewer turnovers than the hosts but free throws were a big problem. 11-3 CCS to start and it had the early signs of a runaway but SC settled down, still trailed 17-11 after a quarter.

The lead was in the 7-9 range most of the second, 34-23 at the half. Sequatchie got it to six, 39-33 in the third, 41-33 after the third quarter. 9-12 point lead for Chargers through the fourth and they successfully began running time off the clock with about five minutes to go. CCS knew they'd been in a game but Sequatchie wasn't seeking a moral victory and was disappointed in the performance.

For Sequatchie, Barker scored 16. had five assists, five rebounds. McDonough scored 13. Those two start at the guards and had only three turnovers, combined. That's a good total considering the way CCS has really caused some teams problems this year, so far. Overall Sequatchie had 12, still far less than some have had against that group. CCS's Jones had 20 points and Simmons scored 13.

A big difference was foul shooting, CCS was 80 percent from the line. Sequatchie-not so good. Chargers went to 15-2 and still are undefeated in the league, Sequatchie is 9-11 and 1-2, several more district games left. Unpredictable Howard is the opponent Thursday for Sequatchie.

Sequatchie held on to win at home vs Howard, 55-53. The game was delayed for about 15 minutes in the third quarter due to a reported tornado in the area. Everyone, players and fans, went into the main area of the school.

It wasn't an especially good performance by Sequatchie especially coming off a game they could have won at CCS. They had nearly twice as many turnovers as in that game, many unforced, and a ton of unnecessary "silly fouls" that kept putting Howard at the foul line. 12-10 Howard after one, 23-21 Sequatchie at the half. After the delay, Howard led by as much as 9 at 34-25 but Sequatchie tied it 39-39 after 3.

In the fourth Sequatchie built a 50-41 lead with 3:00 left but nearly fell apart. Howard cut it to just 2 points late before Sequatchie got some critical free throws from sophomores McAfee and Greene. I was proud to see the team maintain the lead after the starting guards fouled out. Sequatchie made it 55-50 late, and those free throws were needed as Howard hit a 3 at the buzzer.

Sequatchie got 25 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists from Barker, she shot 50 percent from the floor and 100 percent from the line. McDonough shot well from outside and had 11 points, Greene scored 10 off the bench. Sequatchie still wasn't great from the line but was better than in some games where the free throws helped lead to losses.
