Mr Basketball DeMarco Polk to Vol State

2002 AAA Mr Basketball DeMarco Polk looks to be playing college ball now for Vol State in Gallatin. Polk, who signed with prestigious Lincoln Trail JC (IL), along with fellow Tennessean Perry Powell (Dyer Co), never showed up on campus, and has decided to attend Vol State, though he cannot be on scholarship this year. Powell, as well, did not show up at Lincoln Trail, though I have not heard an update on his status.....

Why Vol St of all places..Its close and a nice campus but Demarco will never reach his full potential..VOL State may be the most unorganized JR College in the state of TN..They're horrible.

I COMPLETELY agree!!!! I have nothing to do with his decision on this. It is a poor decision. Demarco is now the first Mr Basketball ever to play for Vol State. Best of luck to him and I hope he somehow finds his way to Division 1 basketball......

boy could he have done better. it seems nashville players are scared to leave????????????? wonder what he plans to do for college after vol state???????????? oh well..............vol state is a graveyard for nashville bball players.......good luck to polk anyway.

That is a good point, I hate to see Nashvilles talent go to Vol st when they can go to most any other JR college in the Nation and play just because of how athletic they are..Most kids out of Nashville are scared to leave the area and thats natural for some 17 or 18 year old kids but I just wish they would not go to Vol st. I remember about two years ago the Clarksville kids from Kenwood and one from Clarksville High packed their bags and came to vol state only to drop out. Only one person finished up and is now playing mid major D-1 or NAIA..but my point in this post is I wish those kids would find another route other than Vol state.

 

I wish Demarco the best of Luck because he surely can play the game of basketball.

i think former stratford star jacques curry is there also.

That is sad about Curry, but it wouldn't surprise me. I thought Curry was redshirting last year at the SWAC's Alabama A&M, but I never even saw him on a roster that included redshirted FR......

Last I heard from a source at A&M Curry was there but he may have transferred but gosh I hope not. Vol St seems to be the local hotbed for Nashville's talent..what a place to go and play collegiately!!
