I have not seen DCA play but I know DCA, Webb, and DA are clearly the class of the east this year. If you throw out ECS in the West, then you have a fairly tight grouping among USJ, SBEC, St. Georges, FACS, Jackson Christian, and Fayette. USJ is probably the strongest of that group as they are the only DII A team to compete at all with ECS.

Even though FACS is coming off 3 straight loses, I believe they should be able to matchup fairly will with DCA, but will have to play an error free game to have an opportunity to win this one. Obviously, I hope FACS wins.

heard a lot about ecs being the best of all the d2 a teams. i haven't seen em play or anything but from what i've read it sounds like they have great lines on both sides and run the ball. what r their strengths & weakness. good luck in ur game against dca, they're tough. it'll be a hard fought game... they are physical on both sides of the ball. they also play with class which i noticed in their game at webb last week. it'll be interesting to hear how they compare to ecs. webb might see them down the road.

St. George's beat FACS by 24 and lost to USJ by 14

SBEC beat FACS by 8 (albeit in a mud pit; hard to judge either team) and lost to USJ by 3

FACS beat Fayette by 8; USJ beat Fayette by 35

Judging by that you'd have to give USJ a solid edge. I'd have also given DCA the edge tonight but FACS is a solid club w/ a salty defense and a very good, quick, and hard-running RB and they obviously got the job done.

Give them a puncher's chance against USJ. If they can limit turnovers and create a couple and find a way to frustrate the USJ passing game, they've got a shot. Last year's FACS team had a questionable pass defense and USJ can chunk it and has some big physical receivers. Never got a chance to see FACS defend the pass this year so I don't know if they've improved there or not. I'd watch tape of the SBEC/USJ game. The Trojans had one of their best games of the year, I thought, in that loss from a coaching standpoint. A lot of the right buttons were pushed even though USJ still just had too much and got the win.

I'd love to hear a recap of the FACS/DCA game. Congrats Crusaders. Great job going on the road and taking the win! I'm guessing Dane Wilson had a big game?

Trojan fan, I think you analysis is pretty good. However, the score differential in the game comparison was affected by 11 turnovers in 2 games by FACS. I also think you analysis of our pass defense is on the money and from what I know it appears USJ will probably fire right at our weak spot. However, as you know anything can happen. For example, I believe SBEC threw 4 interceptions vs St. Georges and SBEC is also a very good passing team. We played very good against DCA, they are a very very good team. We had what amounted to 2 goal line stands. One, they went for 4th and 5, the other they missed a field goal. Dane Wilson, did have another big game. ECS is the only team to contain him and as we all know, that is another story all together. From what I gathered talking to some of their dads and such, they really did not expect to lose to FACS.

Ex Spartan, as to a comparison between DCA and ECS. In my opinion there is no comparison, and I don't mean any dis respect to DCA, because as I said earlier they are a very very good team. However, ECS is clearly in the wrong league. They dressed 95 or 96 players when they came to FACS. They are very good with no weaknesses. They have not been challenged in the league and I doubt they will. They are big and fast at most every position.

Ya, i've heard ecs is the best team in d2 a and they should win it all. if there is no comparison between them and dca then they must be really strong. if webb is able to put together a good game this friday against st. georges and win then it sounds like its gonna be a long trip to memphis and get their butts whipped. webb dresses less then 50. i can't imagine a school with ecs enrollment dressing that many. good win over dca, they r very talented at the skill positions and lines and good luck against usj.

    • It was not ACHS at all, they have zero reason to worry about Clinton.  It had to do with a kid (non football player)  that had a charge and appeared in front of the juvenile judge.  The judge saw that the kid was way behind credit wise for his grade and told him to reappear in a month with a plan to graduate.  When the kid reappeared he had more that twice the credits than one month before.  The judge called BS and contacted the school.  That is what started the investigation.  This involves multiple students, but to this point no athletes are involved.
    • I believe the Covington Chargers travel to Trenton Peabody for a scrimmage today? Anyone going to this? Curious how the Chargers will do.
    • Good ole Bradley Zulliger. He was a really good QB @ OR. Fun to watch.  Wore #15 and was like a mini Tebow, with the exception of being right handed. He could take a pounding and keep on ticking. Played with a collapsed lung against Powell that year. Tough as nails.
    • They should be pretty good in year two for Rang.  Replacing most of the offensive production losing Dozier, Hayward and Rembert , but they're are skill kids in place ready for their shot.  I know I say this every year, but the o line should show improvement after two years in Rang and Kevin Day's weight program.  I still would favor West over Plow and OR come November.  The Rebs will have to grow up a bunch between now and then, and will probably take some lumps along the way with that schedule.  But I predict come playoff time they will be ready.   One of their coaches half joked to me that they could go 5-5 regular season and win the state championship.  Ha ha.
