Coaching Change?

If Checkerboard was their coach, when she gets situated I hope she returns and posts. Hutch is a fine school, had a fine young team this year and will be competing in State the next few years if their players stay.

Agree with PHargis, there is a good base of talent and with a new coach as good as the last one they can compete with the best. Most if not all will stay due to TSSAA transfer rules requiring transfers to sit out a year. The rules make it prohibitive to transfer in high school, especially for any that have desire to play in college. I don't think hardship will apply in this case.

The school is being very tightlipped about everything surrounding the situation including plan for hiring a new coach. If checkerboard knows anything, my guess is there is the threat of termination to keep anything known confidential. Interesting how different school administrations handle coaching searches...

It was very obvious, after watching schools in the Tennessee State Championships, that Schools may make decisions to take advantage of any opportunities during any dead period to attend any events for coaches to refine or improve or add current techniques. Volleyball is a sport of techniques , details and strategy. It is a sport of being able to change strategy on the fly. There are numerous ways thruout the state to upgrade skills or finding those who can set up clinics for a group of coaches to improve techniques. It is a normal progression of someone interested in their profession. Large Clubs or University Coaches thruout the State would be good places to inquire about such clinics. Everyone needs an update of the fine points of the sport and only being in an event such as State or just getting close to being in State makes Coaches sensitive to the need. It might even require bringing or sending some films of matches to the people holding the clinics. If there is interest in this, contact your nearest obvious contacts to see if they might hold a clinic in your area.

For a list of your nearest obvious contacts, go to the nearest obvious contact list.:roflolk:

Mentioning on this site is good and will be seen like you did it but a wider range of viewing, if one likes, is to go to TSSAA site and to the bulletin board and to the positions open and see if that would be best to list it there. If so, call TSSAA to see how it might be done. If you do that now you will see that Grace, Silverdale, SBEC, Ezell, MT Juliet Christian. St.Cecelia and The Webb School are usng this site. Don't be intimindated by so many FB's(Football) positions listed. It's that time of year. VB can be put in front of your position. For those schools looking, IMO this is the time to do it. Waiting till the end of the year only does not recognize that VB is the first sport of a new school year and puts a school behind in planning ie, making out a schedule, doing tryouts, checking on uniforms and sizes, planning on money raising events, providing consuling on summer activities, being familiarized with parents. This past season's interest in the NEW DIA smaller school division along with room in the IAA to compete seemed to help interest. Likely your listing will be seen by many on this site and with the connections to VB by many parents at your school. Good luck.

Thanks. This is the first time that we have ever hired a coach and we were unfamiliar with the proper methods of posting a job listing. I just marked my calendar to make sure that calling the TSSAA is the first thing that we do on Monday morning.

We are not intimidated in the least. In fact, we are currently trying to not only lure a top Head Coach, but we are out looking for top notch offensive and defensive coordinators. We will take listing under VB into consideration.

We better rush out and hire someone. I mean its already November. There is nobody else at the school can make a schedule or size uniforms. I am most worried about the kids. Despite the vast majority playing club, there is no way they will figure out how to improve in the offseason. Lastly, I forgot about tryouts. If the coach is not in place immediately, there is no way that they will be prepared to hold tryouts in late may.
