USJ 40 FACS 19

It was a great night of high school football! Friday night lights. We (FACS) lost to better team. Its no disgrace to get beat by a better team and walk across the field when its over and shake hands. FACS kept it close for a while. 7-7 end of 1st. 13-20 end of half. But in the end we had no answer for their passing attack. Pass defense is our weakness, passing is there strength. Not a good combination for FACS. USJ is a very good football team. I'd like to see them and DA next week. I just don't see how anyone can stop their air attack. In fact, no one has stopped it other than ECS, which clearly should still be in Div. II AA.

In the end, the 4 top seeds advance.

Congrats FACS on a good season. You just ran up on a buzzsaw with USJ and Overby. Overby was simply amazing last night. 360 yards passing and 6 TD's. Someone big time should be looking at Overby.

Austin Martindale caught 4 TD catches to break the state record of 22. He now stands at 24 for the season.

 

Good clean game with lots of sportmanship on each side. FACS showed for most of the game that they belonged. Looking forward to next week.

I agree with everything in this post except one thing. Why should ECS be in DII-AA? I thought it was by enrollment that these schools were classified? I hear there are alot of sour grapes over ECS being in that division. Thats dissapointing because it sounds like they along with other teams that have come in have made it a more "competitive" league.

To TigerFan901, your right it is a very competitive league now and it is by enrollment, its just that ECS is nearly 50% larger than all of the other schools in single A. In fairness to them, they are at a similar disadvantage when they are in AA. So they choose to play down rather than up and even inside their school some are happy with it and others are not. They have a very good football team and Jim Heinze is a great coach.
