Eh well I think all around SH has nothing but time. They had to post the job for 10 days and since that is over, they now have time to talk to people. They are actually interviewing people right now. Everyone who put in an application gets a fair share, and I heard (or maybe it was JC Paper) that 20 odd people have put in for the job. I would suspect we wouldn't hear anything until after the holidays. Look at it from Carter's point of view, huge decision and I'm sure he wants to talk to his family about it over the holidays. Look at it from ANY coaches point of view. Waco is making it seem like it is a done deal, from what I've heard it was not anywhere near a done deal. As for whats on the table, they put in the paper how much money you get paid, so it isn't like a 100k job. He is probably looking at only a 15k pay raise. Whats the other benefits tho? Brand new stadium, brand new fieldhouse once the season starts. Whats the bad parts? Everyone knows that if you have ONE bad year in JC your head goes up to be sacrificed, and if the kids don't respond....he is left in a position where he is in trouble. Right now, he could stay at South, become a principal or something one day, make even more money, go down to 4A one year and possibly dominate that...I wouldn't be as worried as everyone seems to think. The more i've looked at the job, the more reasons I've seen that he doesn't need to go.

Wacko doesn't know anything. But he/she does seem almost giddy over the prospect of Carter leaving. But it is because he/she thinks South fans will be terribly hurt. It has nothing to do with football. That boy/girl is obsessed and full of hate.

That being said, Carter's leaving might allow South, who on paper should NEVER get a win over DB, finally obtain one and SH might also have a better chance.

Be careful what you wish for this Christmas little boy/girl.

Whacko Jocko knows nothing. He does not know "Jacko" about the situation. Must be slow for Dwight at the Ford Parts Counter these days.

Hey, have you all heard? There's 5 Sensibaughs transferring to South next year. I got it straight from the horses mouth. Trust me. I know. Also, there's a Manning, a Farve, and a Brady that are thinking of coming as well.

Are those "Sensibaugh's" any relation to the Sensabaugh's that play for DB? Oh, I guess not, the names are spelled different.

Meanwhile back at the ranch.................The last two or three years, Stacy had arguably the best South teams in their history. HE STILL COULD NOT BEAT DOBYNS-BENNETT!! :D By most accounts, South will not be as good as they were for a while, if ever. He realizes that with his best team, and with a "down" DB team, he still can't beat D-B........so he figures he should apply for the Science Hill job( and leave his beloved Alma-Mater!)

He will say that he "is looking for another challenge" or that "he has accomplished all he can at South" but the bottom line he wants to leave South because South will not be as good, at he is frustrated by not beating DB with his best teams.

Stacy is a good guy by all accounts, but he is not the right person for the Topper job.

Go Landers!

Its awright...everybody else beat them injuns....and he managed to beat Boone so in essence he did beat DB....I think the right person for the Topper will be the one who can ignore that jack-#### AD...maybe they shoulda kept Smith and made some"other changes"

If by essence you mean South beat DB cause they beat Boone, then Boone beat everybody this year because they beat TN High, which also means that TN High beat TN High which is quite amazing....blah.

Everyone who paid attention this year knows it was game to game week to week. Boone could line up against TN High and DB, but couldn't find the South answer. South had some amazing games all year but couldn't answer to Columbia, DB, or TN High, DB lost a lot of games but beat a team that went to the 4th round of the playoffs. If by your argument you say that, DB beat everyone by essence and...blah. Don't bring that arguement in here. Barb aren't you a Gville fan...if so good season btw, hats off to you!

And I'll defend South on this one. DB is in their head, South is in Boone's head, and South's head was still reeling for a loss of a player. I say let's see St. Clair play DB and things will change up. The QB was good who was in there, no doubt about it, but what I really want to know is how is he going to feel being receiver next year when that QB from Central comes on over. Phhh...and you South fans don't think we know about that

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
