hoosierdad
Baylor is rolling. They are getting their wrestlers back for the most imporatant part of the season. With Watson and Helton back in the lineup and moving Mackey up to Hwt, they look to be the team to beat. Their Middle School looks great as well so it looks all is well on the river. McCallie looks strong as well in the Middle School as well so it should be a great 4 years for the Chattanooga teams in Div II.
Rocky14533
Lots of very good wrestling over the weekend. Baylor proved that they were the most complete team in the tournament with a pretty dominant win over very good competition. The Kiski team from PA were a tough bunch as well. While JAson Luster was the big draw for the tournament, I have to say I was more impressed with 140 (I think Henderson?). The toughest weight class in the tournament, and he made it look easy with a pin in the finals against a very good Baylor wrestler Doster. Luster was as powerful and quick as everyone said he was. But, I have to say that TJ Duncan from McCallie gave he a very good finals match. TJ hung in, and even had a brief momment where he had Luster on his back. I think that if TJ would have opened up a little earlier, could have been an even better result, but good job anyway-I was very impressed. We got to see the first high school loss from Watson @ 119. Watson is comming off an injury, but loked to be in control of the match. Mental mistakes were the problem. 3 straight cautions (resulting in 1 point), points given up @ the end of the period. We usually do not see this from Baylor wrestlers. It was bound to happen @ some time. Pressures off for the undefeated career. Just some of the highlights from the tournament. Good luck to all wrestlers for the remainder of the season.
coachwalrich
Videos will be going up soon! - one of the best things I heard over the weekend - Coach Ross, The Kiski School, told me that he was a little shocked with the comp at the tournament and he is bringing his team back next year AND said he is going to bring a couple more teams with him!!!!! Baylor had 7 kids out for most of year, they had them back this weekend!!! Lower weight OW - 140 - Evan Henderson, The Kiski School Upper weight OW - 152 - Jason Luster, The Kiski School Best Match - 152 - Jason Luster, The Kiski School vs. TJ Duncan, The McCallie School Also, having Clinch Gear there was AWESOME - keep your eye on Tyron Woodley, awesome guy! The kids faces when they received their custom Clinch Gear Champion shorts was AWESOME! We are inking a deal with Clinch Gear to be our sponsors for years to come, we talked last night and we are going to do SOME HUGE things for this tournament, which will help all of the SOUTH...Just wait for some of the things to come out and be announced... Having Cliff Fretwell doing his filming, is just awesome. Having Flo there just adds to the tournament bigtime - he did the finals live, if you are able to hear him live while filming, he has a BIG future doing this, he brings a great down to earth perspective to the LIVE! Scott Casber from Takedown Radio was VERY impressed with the tournament and wants to come back next year! He did his LIVE radio show matside and we and tons of coaches come by and get to talk about the tournament and their programs... Listen - The Dominco's can FLAT OUT run a first class tournament - As tournament director's, just amazing - everything was ahead of schedule, NO down time - My hats off to them. THEY will ALWAYS be the tournament directors! Mark Moore - he is officially a WRESTLING JUNKIE - having him come and just put in work was awesome - I will have him back in a HEARTBEAT! Great comments on the officiating the whole weekend!!!! I really think next year this tournament will explode - we are working for 40 teams next year!!!! So much I need to say...but I am still tired!!!! Team Scores 1. Baylor 266.5 2. The Kiski School 181.0 3. McCallie 157.5 4. Archbishop Rummel 145.5 5. Lovett 138.0 6. Marist 132.0 7.
