Corn Elder leaving ENS???

I'd like to see Elder leave. Bowers has 11 varsity players on financial aid. Last year, it was 15.....regardless of the $$ in D-II, Ensworth has the $$ to "buy" their team.....it is a competitive advantage even against other teams in their league....

If you are going to have D-II then there should be a limit on how many kids can be on financial aid on the team (basically a scholarship rule)...otherwise, you are having a competitive advantage to the schools with huge endowments or financial backing that can bring in their own players....

Unless you are the EHS headmaster or the student finance officer you would not have knowledge of who gets financial aid. Or maybe you went up to all 15 players and ask them. But to come up with your "11 varsity players on financial aid" statement, you are just trying to start up the public vs. private debate, which by the way is on another COACH T board.

Not one person receives 100% aid. The parents of the student are liable for the difference.

An out of state clearing house determines who gets aid and how much. The application does not have a certain box to select of the sport the student plays. The school has no say.

The TSSAA has periodic inspections to insure compliance.

The DIVISION I (public) and DIVISION II (private) in Tennessee is the way the TSSAA wants it, so there is no mixing when it comes time for state tournaments.

But what is the harm to allow DI and DII to play each other in the regular season? Unless you think everyone is on financial aid and that makes it unfair.

The kid will stay at EHS......it is called a rumor!

Are financial aid and scholarships the same thing? I know that lots of privates offer the type of financial aid that you are talking about--with the out of state clearinghouse--but some also offer scholarships from private scholarship funds. I also wondered if it is possible to get both?

It is not called scholarship unless you are a private school basher.

The financial aid comes from the school as well as funds raised through private donations from parents, alumni, and friends of the school.

There is a max limit to disperse and it can change year to year.

Ensworth wouldnt win District 7AAA, much less play for a AAA state championship. :)

Boroballer.......why do you always post such uneducated comments?

Like the one about Oakland and state tournament appearances? Now this? study before you spout off stuff just to make yourself seem smart, then ultimately be proven wrong.

And uh, Meiko Lyles, John Ross Glover, Jordan Price, Dwight Tarwater(possibly) Corn, David Howard, just to name a few DI prospects that played in DII this year, and with the smaller amount of schools, the ratio for DII is actually MUCH MUCH better than DI

I believe it was SiegelGrad that made that post, not boroballer.

They all sort of just, get jumbled up to me, its seems like they all say something that totally isnt true, or is out of line. Just to make them seem right.

I definately didn't mean to offend. I have seen merit scholarship awards to students and have seen applications online on some school's websites. I just wondered if a student could get both--the merit scholarship (which requires different paperwork according to websites) and financial aid.

    • Im asking everyone to keep roy whited and his family in your prayers. Coach whited won back to back state championships at white county in 98-99. He is very well liked and respected in this area. For those of you that dont know he went missing 3 days ago. No one knows where he is. His truck was found in a rural part of the county. Thanks again. We are all very concerned.
    • West would be a good team to get behind if they can pull it off again like last year. That championship game last year was awesome.
    • I say that because he stepped out of a MUCH better situation on his own than he would see at least his first 3 years at DCA and it would take at least that much to bring him back to coaching. There are other fish in the sea, but again money talks. Need to fix the girls hoops too. Now I'll try again. Who has Pierce locked in for his staff? Hearing a McGavock man but not the Iceman.
    • I’ve heard mostly good things from the gridiron. Lots of optimism. It sounds like the portal has mostly helped, though there are a few expected defections. Comeback year!
    • Rudesell 1 year at Crockett. Coach Tate 2 weeks a Bradford. South Gibson supposedly going with jcs middle school coach. Which isn’t who I thought would get it, I know the top 2 was between him and Obion girls head coach.
