jchs1team
Whats 2010 looking like? Any Comments
schs2011
This years group of Seniors went undefeated as 8th graders destroying Maryville and also undefeated as Freshman. Lots of things change in 3-4 years, but hopes are high. QB-Danny Chastain- Incredible athlete with a strong arm. Danny can beat you with his feet as well as his arm. TB=Dakota Cogdill- Brutal, punishing runner that wont break that 80 yarder but, will avg. 5 or 6 a carry and scare the ____ out of Lb's and db's one on one. FB=Trey Cupp- Maybe the most physical player on the team. Trey's the kind of kid that will trade a 15 yard run for the chance to truck a db 5 yards out. WR=Bryant Gilson-Sure handed, two time all district wideout that just gets better and better. The only thing that can cover Gilson consistently is his favorite blanket back home. =Josh Jhonson, Bret Pippen- Both players that are super quick and sure handed and come fromm families that have left their mark on SCHS athletics. Either one of these athletes could make all district and be game changers. OL,TE= The o-Line lost valuable seniors last year but return a strong, qucker more athetic group that can in some ways do more pulling and moving players at the line than last years group. Brandon Tinker returns at TE to provide great hands and a complete package as a blocker. DEFENSE DL- SCHS should be stronger up front as alot of kids played young last year and were very productive. Watch for Thomas Hamilton and Cupp to be standouts. LB- Source of biggest concern on defense. Only one returning starter. Cogdill is a Three year starter and district honorable mention last year. He should cause offenses problems all year. Zac lewis started some games last year and has a nose for the ball. Watch for a couple underclassmen to rise up and make huge contributions. Remember the name Robbins. I'm sure before the years out we'll all know his abilities. DB's= Strong unit with lots of experiance. Johnson, Pippen and Chastain will have to find replacement for All-State performer at safety, but some consistent play there will solidify defense SCHS is fortunate to have what we at Sevier County feel is the greatest group of coaches in the state. We have seen them bring the best out of their players on and off the field for years. Coach Brewer is not only a great mentor for HS athletes, but his behavior has a strong impact on the fans as well as the community. Irregardless of wins and losses our students will learn more lessons about football and life than most schools can dream. Brewer and his staff will have a team of winners, whether the W/L record reflects it or not and as parents we are truly blessed to have them all. Go Bears! Prediction: Two straight 10-0 seasons and repeat as IMAC Champions.
TwelfthMan
This years group of Seniors went undefeated as 8th graders destroying Maryville and also undefeated as Freshman. Lots of things change in 3-4 years, but hopes are high. SCHS 2011, you might want to check your stats. The upcoming Senior Class at JCHS went undefeated as freshmen with an 11-0 record that included a win over the SCHS freshmen that year as well as wins over Science Hill, and Dobyns-Bennett. That same group only lost two games as sophomores and beat D-B for the second year in a row. You're right, lots of things change in 3-4 years, a lot remains to be seen for the upcoming year. Just sayin.....

How has spring gone for you guys? Are you missing a lot of players due to baseball and track?
formerblazer
Sevier county will be hosting Science Hill today at SCHS in a spring game. details later to come. so how about those details
schs2011
the scrimmage only went 40 plays before it got rained out. science hill showed up about an hour late and we went in a ten play sequences. science hill has a big line and some athletes, but some mistakes hurt them. Sevier county got beat on a passing route once because of a linebacker mistake, with work though they'll get better. there is only one LB returning with serious playing time. Sevier county moved the ball quite well but stalled out later on in the 10 play sequences. Not much can be said because it got rained out so early. Sorry
The Hill
I didn't get to travel over to Sevier Co. Friday to see the scrimmage (sounds like they could have used my GPS). Is there any other Smokey Bear fans that seen the scrimmage that would like to comment??
SHSFB
I am deffinately not a bears fan but i did go to see what to expect from them and i must say i was pretty impressed. They were smaller then last years team but look to be just as good. Unfortunately the scrimmage didnt last long due to the weather.
