Who does Adidas really sponsor?

Recommended Posts

I have seen several websites and posts on here from different teams that say they are sponsored by Adidas - Team Hustle, ET Pyro, Nashville Celtics. I find it hard to believe that Adidas is sponsoring three teams in Tennessee, so I just would like to know for sure who is and who is not sponsored by Adidas.

I was wondering the same thing about Nike, but I was able to find that through the Nike site and that cleared that one up. Those teams are the YOMCA and the Travelers. I know there has been some argument about that as well.

I read an article a few months ago about Adidas making big cuts to their summer basketball sponsorships, so this just didn't seem right to me. Just wanting that cleared up if possible.

I can't speak for Team Hustle but I know that Adidas does sponsor the Celtics and Pyro. They have sponsored the Celtics for a while now and Pyro is a new sponsorship that began this year. The Pyro investment makes a lot of sense because they were able to compete with the Travelers and the teams from Memphis last year. Just because a company cuts some sponsorships that are not considered fruitful does not mean that ALL sponsorships have been cut. Businesses are always looking to make smart investments no matter what the economic climate is like.

I think it depends on your definition of "sponsor". My son plays for Adidas Team Hustle. It appears to me that Adidas gives the program a special price on gear, much like they do with high schools. Players still have to pay a fee and the team still has to raise money.

Nike only sponsors two teams in Tennessee..... Memphis YOMCA and the Travelers.

HERE IS THE NEW UPDATED LIST OF 2010 ADIDAS SPONSORED GRASSROOTS BOYS BASKETBALL TEAMS.EVERYBODY ELSE IS GETTING DEALS ON PRODUCTS AND/OR APPAREL FROM REGIONAL ADIDAS PRODUCT SALESMAN OR ONE OF THE 21 LISTED TEAMS DIRECTLY. (PER CHRIS RIVERS-ADIDAS BASKETBALL; DIRECTOR OF GLOBAL BASKETBALL ASSETS)

Thats great that you found a website that lists their grass roots teams, but before you say a team is justing getting deals from adidas or reps is incorrect. I know for a FACT that East Tennessee Pyro is sponsored by adidas. What does this sponsorship include? They receive a quite impressive check from adidas, they receive great discounts on all adidas products, they receive free entry to any adidas sponsored tournaments, and they receive some other items. Now if this is your idea of a team not getting sponsored then I don't know what being sponsored is. There are different level of sponsorships so just because they don't show up on the grassroots website doesn't mean they don't exist. I am sure that the Celtics and other teams have a similar deal.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
