Who is Stix? I have never once heard that name mentioned in Morristown, unless it's the band Styx. They're a great band.

 

Anyway, as for who is Derek Creech, he is the assistant coach at Walters State. I believe he has been there for 5 or 6 years, and they have been to the national tournament a few times while he has been there. Also, he has coached a lot of kids that are at East and West in AAU and in his summer camps.

 

He does a great job with those kids, and he knows what it takes to win.

derek creech best 2 point guards in morristown history, He has been instrumental in guiding the senators to 2 National Tournament appearances in his for years on staff. The 04-05 team finished 27-5, while the 07-08 team finished 32-3 which is a school record for wins. Derek has recruited and coached 2 All-Americans, Ralph Legg in 04-05 and AJ Thomas in 07-08. The Senators are 119- 37 in Coach Creech's 5 years.

Along with assisting Coach Carlyle in daily activities of the team, Derek is the recruiting coordinator, and tracks all academics progress as well as does most of the teams scouting.

Derek received his B.S. In Physical Education from East Tennessee State University in 1997. Derek is originally from Morristown, Tn. He and his wife Angela, have three daughters: Abbie, Kailie, and Lacie.
