TBALLEXPERT
Wow….. What a state tournament we had this year!!If you didn’t get your monies worth it’s only because you didn’t bring enough because the T$$AA was willing to take everything you had. From the HIGH cost of admission to the parking lot attendants now charging for parking to the high cost of food at the concession stand they were trying every way they could to get into our wallets & get your money!! With all that aside we did get to see some great games this year! I truly believe that softball in this state is on the rise. The level of play is getting better every year, some of these players that we were able to see this past week are truly fun to watch! Pitching was good, Hitting was good & I saw some great defense being played on some of the fields! The level of competition between all three classifications was amazing! I can remember a day when AAA was head & shoulders above AA & A as far as talent goes but that gap appears to have closed. With 2 of the 3 titles going to the West Tn. Area it appears that those folks from the west side of the river have been working hard at this game we all love. AAA- Soddy is back! Congrats to them on a great year! This team proved just how deep they are by losing their ACE & having another in the stable to come in & wrap this tournament up for the team AA- Camden! Not a big surprise for this team to win the title. One of the best all around players on the field just seemed to take control of things on the field during this tournament to get past another very good team from the other side of the river. A-Trinity! Not a big surprise here either but had to fight thru a very good Grace team who was not going to give up without a fight. Led from the circle with some impressive defensive play behind her. ALL TOURNAMENT TEAM FROM THE FINAL 6 TEAMS! Soddy- Alex Everett ss Soddy- Brandi Lasley 3b Soddy- Tori Denayer P Soddy- Kelsey Nunley P Beech- Heather Montgomery LF Beech- Kayla Toney ss Beech- Alex Banks P Camden-Amanda Brandenburg P Camden- Heather Kee rf Camden- Laiken Kelly 3b Covington-Autumn Glenn 3b/p Covington- CJ Browder ss Covington- Sarah Cousar p/3b Trinity- Ellen Renfroe p Trinity-Hailey Elliot c Trinity- Summer Cross 2b Grace-Lacye Walker p Grace-Bethany Cowart cf Grace-Kaitlyn Eldridge ss I hope everyone has a great “T”ravel ball season!! TBALLEXPERT
And all this time I thought there were 5 Champions and 10 finalists last week. "Mr Jefferson" I guess you haven't really noticed but no one really care's about the DII state tournament. I guess maybe I could allot some time to check out some stats on the DII schools & put on here for every one to see how good they are............ oh here is one.....Teams that played in the DII championship games regular season record against teams that played in the DI championship games- 0 for 6 combined against these DI teams. This is a fitting comment by a "t-ball expert"..............DUMB. The 0-6 record includes four losses to SD. Even the AAA bridesmaid was 0-2 for the year vs. SD. For that matter, every team in the entire tournament was 0'fer against SD during the regular season and state tournament. Some of them facing SD #2 pitcher (Riverdale and title game vs Beech). The DII AA teams had great years and GPS deserves credit for winning a ring. These schools will play anybody any day.

Maybe the T$$AA should allow all the inner city schools to form their own division like those rich schools have done so those kids have a better chance at a state title too? This would also allow the T$$AA to make even more money which seems like what the T$$AA is the most concerned about anyway!

I thought the privates were supposed to be elitist.... (I did, however, like the "Mr Jefferson" quote ) To say that no one cares about the DII state tournament would be an incorrect quote. 5-Sport Dad
T-BallI'm not sure how to read you. You need to check your TSSAA history. The private schools did not form their own division. The 300 or so public schools in essence kicked out the private schools thanks in large part to Brentwood Academy and McCallie. TSSAA formed Div II. The private schools would much rather play the publics in all sports. The smaller public schools are the ones that formed their own division when they got tired of getting beat by Div I private schools and forced a multiplier on them. ("So they could have a better chance of winning a state title too").I guess its a good thing Goodpasture wasn't at State this year or it could have been 4 out of 5 privates winning rings. For now 3 out of 5 privates will have to do. I could care less who wins rings. My kids are long gone. I just say give them some credit for having good teams. Did they beat SD? No. Did they go 0-6 vs the state final teams? Yes. Were 4 of those losses to SD? Yes. Did they beat other teams that made the state tournament? I don't know. The real question is did they even play? They may not have formed their own division, but if y'all would play by the rules, we wouldn't have this 'mess.' And to think, most either carry the 'Christian' banner or teach Bible in their daily curriculum. Hmmm...you may not know how to read TBall, but reconcile that for us, Coach. As MrNoitAll says, 'it's hard to win a ring when you're paying to get in.'
Indian
GPS should be asking their buddies from McCallie about their role in the partial split, if they're really upset about it. The Division II teams play in enough regular season tournaments to show pretty much what they'd do in the Division I postseason. This year none of them could have gotten past SD. Hunter1
Nobody got past Soddy, the point is there are great players on the DII teams that deserve to be on the All Tournament Teams.
