City Prep

Just wondering what are the qualifications for the city prep? We tried to get in but didn't, however we had a better scoring average than some of the other teams and beat some straight up. Is it political or what? How did East Hamilton and Cleveland get in? Maybe coach Holwerda can explain. More to follow.

The 8 top rated teams get in plus indidviduals from teams that don't get an invite. Not sure how the individuals are selected but anyone that plays is supposed to have a 9-hole stroke average of 45 or less.

Results from today - (1) McCallie 296 (2) Baylor 300 (3) Notre Dame 302

Medalist - David Weeks, Notre Dame 70

Runner-up - Patrick Clossin, McCallie 71

Third Place - 6 tied at 74

2011 City Prep being played today at Harrison Bay in Chattanooga. Last years winner - McCallie has to be the favorite again today with Baylor, Notre Dame and McMinn County also being in the hunt. McCallie has four players from last years state championship team - Andrew Weathers, Patrick McDonald, Case White, and Gordan Hulgan forming a strong group. Tucker Snipes is the 5th man and he is playing pretty well. All five are underclassmen.

Good luck to all the teams.
