Fairview vs Page

Probably wrong a GC fan starts this thread but it should be a great game and has huge implications. Winner should cement themselves a spot in the playoffs. IMO both will make it but an automatic bid is always a good thing. I usually like to see Page do well and expect them to this week but like all GC fans, come friday night I'll be pulling for the Yellwjackets!

Actually, I was hoping that someone would open it up. I quit starting a thread because we lost every time.

 

Does anyone know the W-L series between Page and Fairview?

 

I long for the days when Lee and Gates were at Fairview.....then both of them ended up at Page. Lee wasn't bad as an assistant with QB's but Gates was a one man wrecking ball. By himself he ran off more linemen with his incompetence. Best thing I ever saw was when Gates had moved onto Independence and he was running around with a headset that they rigged up where he could only hear what was going on but never figured out that when he talked into the mic...it was dead....hilarious.....oops...I digress

 

This will be a headknocker. I am counting on Pages' speed for this one. Page defensive backs better stay back or they will get burned. We all know that Fairview will be very anxious to win this one.....

Well...no Fairview fans...must be hanging out at the Sonic.

 

I figured that somewhere there was a historical history of this series. I believe Page leads 16-5 overall and has not lost to F-V snce the early 1990's......in fact there may be some F-V players whose fathers may have played on the last team to beat Page.

 

Permit me to tell a story from the 1999 season when Page went undefeated and Fairview won 1 game (I think).....somebody from fairview put out a $100 bounty on the Page QB to put him out of the game. He was 6' 2" and went 225 lbs....he put at least three guys out of the game while he was "running" the option...it was hilarious.

 

Then there was the nightmare about 5 yrs ago when Page scored like 7 times and had 5 called back....250+ yds rushing called back in penalties....still won the game...wonder where that one was played??

 

Fairview will be jacked up...I hope.....remember speed kills...if Page stays away from turnovers they take this one........but keep that Page defensive secondary back and get some picks.

Those same refs called the Giles vs Fairvew game last week. We had two interceptions with long runbacks......lucky for Fairview, that when our dbs were running 20 yards downfield with the ball, a ref would have totalmakebelieverecall (yes that is a word) and throw a flag for an illegal block at the point of the pick. At one point we were flagged for interferrence when their 80 jumped over the back of our db to knock down the ball before it was intercepted....that gave them the ball on the one.

 

So dog.....the moral of this story is....when going to Fairview....plan on about 7-8 bonus penalties.

It was an estimate...so simma down simma down! Fairview did have that one penalty called on them at a very crucial point in the game. Remember...it was a side line warning .....Wait a second....there were no yards maked off against them.......and.....wait......wait....its coming back to me now......yes they recieved what resulted in a free timeout as the clock was running out on them . Do ya'll use special hand signals to get that one called

For the most part they let them play. 80 over the corner was a joke call. DB had inside position. He is right about the sideline warning call. Usually a fake injury in that situation but kudos to them for a new idea

 

Page takes this one. Their D is too good. Fairview will not be able to contain their running game all night long. Page pulls away in the 4th by 14. It will be a good game though. Page will take away the quick strike.

You are correct about the clock. I was referring to the extra time allowed to call the play in a bang-bang situation.

Gerry...Gerry...Gerry...After an incomplete pass when the ball is spotted a team still has to deal with the time clock. Thats 25 seconds Gerry. Chck the rule book Gerry. The side line warning bonus gave them an extra 60 seconds......Go back and watch the film Gerry.

Don't get upset Gerry.....were all still pulling for you this week...we just expect Page to spank you thats all.
