The Page Head Coach is Jess Enderle. Assistant Coaches are Amy McNeil and Kate Walker.

Sorry about that, as you know I knew that but some late press accounts were wrong. I should have checked.

Certainly if there are others, I should be reminded. There are four schools who did not have the coaches names on their Web site and I got them from TSSAA records. In the past that's not been an entirely reliable source. This sport should be past putting the AD's name by the Volleyball Coach's position.

Munford will return to the AAA state volleyball championship next week - first time since 2007. This is the perfect place for the Flyin' Hawaiian to finish her high school career.

AAA State Tournament Schools

 

Ravenwood High School

Coach Tracy Berry brings Ravenwood back to the state for the second year out of District 11. they finished second last year and have a record of 45-8. Featured players, 6'" Madelyn Hutsen(University of Texas comittment), katheren Hutsen(member of US Juniors national team), Setter Alyssa Ivy, Setter Lydia Wright, Micaela Baily. Cpach Berry was quoted that"the team needs to focus on the end sesult" at atate.

 

Karns

Coach Kynette Williams and the Beabersmake their second appearance in a row with a 57-5 record out of Region 2.Featured players, Kelsey Handel, Region MVP, Ashley Ferris senior(Carson Newman committment), lauren Bonee, mallory Bonee Karns won over Region 1 runner up Sullivan South top get to State. Coach Williams stater we are "Not goping in to territory where we have not been before"(to State)

 

Dobyns-Bennett

Coach Kathi Shaffer, with over 800 career wins, brings last years State champions to State again this year. they beat a strong Farragut team to get there. Featured players, Jamie Rutledge,Sr, Meredith hardy, Sr,, lori peterson, Sr.

 

Munford

Coach Nina Makiris brings a surprising Munford to the State tournament with a 31-6 record. They were at the State Tournament last in 2007 and they beat a favorite Houston to get there.Featured players, Senior Scarlett "the Flyin Hawaiian" Gable who had 30 kills and 17 digs in the sectional finals, Sami Shultz, and setter Savannah Gable. Coach Makris said "This was the thing tonite. Our passing was as good as it has ever been with this group. they really picked it up".

 

Siegel- Coach Ann Mullins, second year Coach brings Si9egel to State for the second time from District 7AAA.They carried a record of 40-6. Featured players, Becca Cutter libero, Caroline Gay setter, Brooke Faulkner 450+kills, Maggie Smith 375=kills, Molly Reidy Paige Canada.. Mullins, a firey coach, was quoted at her sectional match "noby is just coming out here to play anymore Everyone is going out here now to do their best and its going to be war".

 

Collierville

Coach Lisa Lewis, a very motivted coach from West Tennessee, brings her school again to the State. Her antics inspired her school again to be back in the State. Her motivation gave the School a 43-11 record and the Dragons their way to the Boro. they beat a good Arlington team in the sectionals. Behind in the match, this coach jumped off the bench, faced the crowd, pumpeded her fist and exhorted the crowd to cheer for her team. It worked and Collierville won. Coach Lewis said " We want to go to State. We have 6 seniors and this is three years in a row for them."

 

Soddy Daisy

Word has it that Coach Lorii Johnson stays fired up and excitable on the bench most of the time. Soddy has not been to the State since 1996. Their record is 49-11. Featured players. Kelsey Nunley, Hayli Raines and Jesica Smith. This is a Coach who felt the pressure of a possibility of District 5 being shut out and chatanooga AA not being back to State and took it seriously after being down 2 games in the Sectional. Soddy has won the last 19 matches in a row and two Seniors. Look at posts below for featured players.

 

Independence

Coach Kathi Slaughter is not new to the Tennessee State tournament. Those who know her knows she is there to win. Her first year at Indy, she had a great record at Siegel previously. Indy got out of District 11 by playing whatg was called one of the matches of the year which was called " one which would make your hair turn grey and your heart beat faster. Knowing the MO of the two coaches, they were on their feet and shouting the whole match. Featured players Caroline "the Hammer" Carlton. Coach Slaughter said their important wins came form "focus, a game plan and execution".

 

These are the AAA schools, the Coaches and their personalties, and the Great Players. This will be a great show.

Soddy Daisy is 49-11. Their featured players are Hayli Raines (District 5-AAA MVP & Region 3 All-Tourn), Kelsey Nunley (District 5-AAA &

Region 3 All-Tourn), Rachael Shaughnessy (District 5-AAA & Region 3 All-Tourn), Megan Ware (District 5-AAA All-Tourn), Jessica Smith

(District 5-AAA All-Tourn), and Sara Davis (District 5-AAA Tourn), Olivia Holden, and Rebecca Johnson.

Soddy Daisy has only 2 seniors and have won their last 19 matches in a row.

AA State tournament profiles

 

East Ridge's Fro is back or are those curls still there? Coach Catherine Neeley outworked her competitors, stayed up all night figuring out rotations and brought the 23-32 East Ridge School back to the State tournament, the first time there since 2005 when they won it all. but if the truth was known she has been back since that time I'm sure wishing her team was there. She and her school worked there way back. Featured players, Haven Carter, Daisha jackson, Bekad Bolis,. Coach Neeley said, "The record was not good. I'm just glad they are getting experience to go to State."

 

Dyersburg

Coach Sarah Morris on her way to sectionals said, "this ios just a stepping stone to State...but our focus is State." Featured players areLauren Lewis, Rachel Gaudich.

 

Crocket County

Coach Bobby Rawson makes another run at State after before the season started making preparations. Featured players are Demi Brasfield, Kaily Rigby, Anna Rogers, Rawson asked hitionsmself before the season started " Are we inexperienced to play smart? Are we mentally tough to play thru blocks and bad plays? Are we too selfish? Who is our leaders?" he found the answer to all of those questions and now is in the State Tournament.

 

Goodpasture

Coach Lynn Dearing likely went a long way to the State when they won their Region over Hume Fogg Goodpasture katelyn Atkinson was named Tournament MVP. She said "Coach was a big inspiration. She pushed us when we were in the huddle" Lilly Chappel, Hume fogg player said,"Goodpasture doesn't let bad plays effect them. They don't let down."

 

Page high School

page's Coach Jess enderle took over the coaching reins with last years AA and compiled a 43-13 record against some better teams in the State. page has many featured players, Molly Locke, Taylor McGuire, and kelly Mills.

 

Red Bamk

Coach Chrystel Brooks team took about an hour to win the sectional and achieved the goal they had been playing for, going to State. Coach Brooks commented,"We are excited to go back to State and we are ready to defone our title." Featured players are Katlyn Helton( Ut Comittment)Ansley helton, Abby Graham, Amy Metcalf.

D2 Schools at State

 

Baylor Coach Sarah Loii says first year player Rebecca Schmitt and libero Katelyn Armstrong were depended on this year and made a difference. "Katelyn is a defensive spark. She is a go all out fireball...she told me that thats her jersey and she was not going to let anyone else wear it. Schmitt has 761 assists. Armstrong said, "Father Ryan kicked us out last year and we were up two games. We were upset. Thats our motivation."

 

St Benedict Academy Coach Angie buchanan is heading back to State as defending Champion of D2AA. She said "If we play as well as we did Saturday, we will have a good chance. Featured player, Senior Hannah Kurtz. "Our girls had the hunger and desire to return to State.

 

ECS Coach Tommy Danner, defending D2A Champion said, "Its nice to get back again. the thing we have to focus on....is ball control. Featured player, Senior Cathleen Parris.

 

St George Coach Kellie Harlon's team is at State for the fourth season. "We are a yound program in our 5th year". Featured players are hannah Everett and Katie McCormick.

 

Webb coach Dennis Ray brings his Webb team to State. Ray said,"Last year we really didn't know what to expect. these girls have their sights on winning it" Featured players are Stephanie Biggs and Anna Dilworth.

 

Ensworth Coach Eva Lea played her team to State with a lot of hard work. Coach Lea Said, The crowd and momentum is such a large part of Volleyball and each really helps."

White house heritage

Signal Mountain's Coach Jennifer Redman brought her Signal Mountain lady eagles to the State again. Redman Said," Everyone is excited, it was a lot of fun, we were setting, and passing and that was nice" in her win to get to State. featured players, Georgia Patyralks, and Callie Hildebrand

 

Madison

Madison's Coach Shanna O'Bright said she and her team talked before the season about making it to the State in 2010. "Now our goal is to win". Featured players, Caroline Carpenter who said, "I was getting a little nervous but I knew the rest of the tam would pull it out" in a responge to their sectional win. Madison survived 2 5 set matches to win their Region 8 crown.

 

Boyd Buchanan

Coach Amber Nolen 38-20 and BB had a great season. They had to wind up at Jackson county for the Sectionals and won in 5, 15-13. Featured players, Rachael Harper 21 kills 22 digs 7 aces, Jessica Kirk 21 digs, Kirsten Reynolds, and jessica Murrell, 26 digs.

 

Summertown

Coach Steve Keeton, 21-12 and the Summertown team thought the night would never end when they beat nashville Christian in 5, the last game being 17-15. Featured players, Molly Tucker, Courtney Grooms, Brooklyn Kroeger, and Megan Kilburn.
