Next play, Team A gains 7 yards and Team B is called for a 5-yard facemask. Should it be 2nd and 6, or 3rd and 6, since the officials gave Team B the 7-yard rush plus the 5-yard facemask call. In the actual game, second down was repeated.

In the actual game, second down was repeated. The officials got it right. In that instance, it is a five yard penalty administered from the end of the run and repeat the down. Rule 9-4-3h in the rule book. No penalty, if accepted, against the defensive team, Team B, can cause the down to go to the next one in the series. Therefore, it would be 2nd down again.
