BullyDog
Mathers got his due!!!! Mathers named Gatorade Player of the Year Blackman junior and Mr. Football finalist I’Tavius Mathers has been named the Tennessee Gatorade Football Player of the Year. Mathers, a 5-foot-10, 185-pound running back, rushed for a state-best 2,614 yards on 240 carries in 13 games for the Blaze this past season. He scored 29 rushing touchdowns and returned two kickoffs for touchdowns this season. He finished with 3,058 all-purpose yards. The Gatorade Player of the Year program annually recognizes one award-winner in the District of Columbia and each of the 50 states that sanction high school boys football, girls volleyball, boys and girls cross country, boys and girls soccer, boys and girls basketball, boys baseball, girls softball and boys and girls track & field. The selection process for Gatorade State and National Players of the Year is administered by ESPN RISE, the multimedia high school division of ESPN, in partnership with The Gatorade Company. All final selection decisions are the result of a collaborative effort between ESPN RISE and The Gatorade Company. Amongst Gatorade Player of the Year award alumni, fans will discover names like Peyton Manning, Candace Parker, Alonzo Mourning and Lisa Leslie. These champions represent only a handful of exceptional talents who were first recognized by the Gatorade Player of the Year program before shining at the highest levels of competition. Over the past 24 years, more than 10,500 state and 200 national Players of the Year have been honored for their athletic excellence, academic achievement and exemplary character. Congrats I’Tavius Mathers you deserve it!!!! Edited December 3, 2010 by BullyDog

naildriver247
Congratulations Mr. Mathers on your award. You definitely are the real deal. I don't care what his 40 time is. He is a beast and a nightmare for any DC planning against him. Good luck next year. Edited December 3, 2010 by naildriver247

CONGRAD'S MR. MATHERS! You are a total idiot. You act Mr. Mathers is the only person that this has happened to. Just 364 days ago Jaron Toney of Alcoa was given this award after not winning Mr. Football. Whiner. FYI it is spelled congrats and it is NOT possessive. I hate it for the kid that he didn't get Mr. Football. I am just over the third-grade mentality on these boards anymore. I think I will announce my retirement on Sunday morning. Kidstaxi
This is total BS!!!! DEVRIN YOUNG IS THE BEST RUNNING BACK IN THE WORLD. He was robbed, and this is a complete shame. A slap in the face to high school football in TN. Seriously. I had to poke fun of a few bad sports from another thread. Hats off to MR. Mathers. Look forward to following you in the years to come. Congrats and good luck next year.
