I've seen them play this summer and they looked like they have improved. It will be different without Sam,but I think they can handle it.I heard they were one of the hardest working teams in TN and they work hard everyday. Can't wait tosee them in action.Good luck Coach Slatten and Coach Dotsen.I heard they were one of the hardest working teams in TNThey play with alot of heart.

This years team will have no seniors on it. The starters will be Adam Drake, Seth England, and Jarvos Williams,(provided he has recovered sufficiently from mononucleosis). The other starters will come from BA Young, Cory Young (who is recovering from facial trauma and sugery from a car accident), Torey Hess, and Ryan Qualls. All are juniors, except Ryan.(A soph). There are also some other talented soph and freshman players who are going to see some time, but they currently lack experience at Varsity level speed. Justin Brown and John Tyler Gribble come to mind.

The team comes in this year with a much better handle on Coach Slattons system and the turmoil from last year at this time is gone. I think they will do just fine :(

I agree with you bbfblover. I have heard nothing about it from Coach Slatten or Coach Bibb.

I am looking forward to the White County season. They look like they are in great physical shape. I suspect they are not likely to be worn down by other teams in the course of a game. Bench depth is going to be a problem though.

Hey bbnut, you missed to mentioned a talented junior in Daniel Johnson unless he quit, but I don't think he did. Oh yea the practices hadn't even started yet so how do you know the starters.Just because they started last year doesn't mean a thing. The sophmores are Seth Daniel, matt davis, ryan qualls, dustin holman, and the rest of the juniors are Jeff neal and Brandon Will. :)

I don't think Daniel quit.He loves the game too much.I'm not gonna sit here and tell you the starters because right now nobody knows and I don't know who the starters are gonna be.It could be anybody. :)

How are you going to run a basketball team without a point guard? How can you forget WC point guard #22 Daniel Johnson? When you list a team, you need to know who you are talking about.

Hey Hustler2, the lack of mention of Daniel Johnson was simply an oversight on my part. Of course the starting 5 is not yet set in stone, but my comments were based on how things looked at the end of their sommer workouts and scrimmages. Certainly things can change in the interim. And Coach Slatten has shown in the past that He is willing to mix up the lineup or change things if it is not going well. I didn't mention Daniel Johnson as a starter because I didn't see him start at all this summer. He is certainly a good player and has great heart. I know Coach Slatten would prefer to have Drake at the 2 guard, but most of the summer he played at point.

    • Dyersburg is going to be good, really good. As mentioned, they have a lot of talent on the way and the trio of Chelby, Joya, and KayKay will only be better with a full season together under their belt. To me, playing in Murfreesboro two consecutive postseasons will only serve to make them more dangerous if/when they stand among the final eight teams this March. Experience, good or bad, always makes you better. And not only do they have experience, they know how to win there. Schedules are coming together for all of the teams and I am excited about what I am seeing on the preliminary drafts on Dyersburg’s schedule. I know I am being a tease, but it’s simply not my place to announce what another school is doing. With that said, I won’t go into specifics. However, I am excited about renewed home and away contracts for the non-district portion of the calendar. I think west Tennessee will have a lot of interest as well.
    • What does everyone have in the final 8? In no particular order. 1. Eagleville 2. Gordonsville 3. Greenback 4. Oakdale 5. South Pitt/ East Robertson-- not sure 6. Richland 7. Halls 8. Union City
    • They struggled to field a team last year. I don’t see them being much better?
    • sx good two know thay didun't waint that entarr citty two see yeller/red......
    • Couldn’t agree more.. Tate is a special kinda player , but fortunately for us we get a best of 3 series. I think our pitching is better than last year when we made the trip to west tn. Should be a fun 2 or 3 games.
