Goldeneagle2000.....Sam Agee graduated and is now in a prep school in Verginia...looking for a college to play for.

The twins and Ben Sims are gone. Any contributions they might have made or detractions they would have been are mere speculation.

I understand that the players really like assistant coach Ben Dodson a lot. He is much more easy going than coach Slatten, and helps provide a buffer when things gat a little tense.

Who does White County open up with? Where is the game? Who will probably be the starters? Who is helping coach the team with Slatten? Thanks in advance for any help.

Smith County on 22nd and Pickett County on the 23nd in Pickett County.Coach Ben Dotsen is the assistant coach.Terry Crain is the freshmen coach.Don't know who is starting.

Like it was stated earlier, no one, probably not even Coach Slatten knows who the starters will be but I will try to give the roster for the ones I can remember. There are no Seniors this year, the juniors are Daniels, Young, Young, Williams, Drake, England, Hess, and Neal. There may be one more but I can seem to remember, I heard Cannon quit. The sophomores that I can remember are Davis, Qualls, Holman, Daniels, Demps--- there are a few more I think. Some freshman that may see a little Varsity playing time could be Brown, Buckner, and Gribble. Hope this helps! This is from memory from the summer practices. They still are a young team with no Seniors but they can only go up from last year one can hope. As far as Coach Crain, you never anything but great things about him. The Freshman seem to love him. He works them hard but they respect him and work for him. Asst. Coach Dotson, I hear, is the cog keeping some of the Juniors together. They like and respect him. He is a great cut up when the going gets rough and can manage to take a hot situation and cool it off. I heard through the grapevine that he was the only thing that kept one of the boys from walking off the court last year more than once.

I heard that Adam Drake has quit the team?? They are saying that him and the coach got in a fight. Does anybody know what happen or if this is even true??? Please help! :confused:

White County has a scrimmage against Wilson County Tues. night at Wilson Co., which is Luke Dycus' team, the old Freshman coach that was at WCHS for a time. Also they have a playday Friday and Saturday at WCHS and a playday at Oakridge next Saturday. This is all I know until the first TSSAA Hall of Fame tournament 11/22-23/02 at Byrdstown. Tues. should be an interesting scrimmage since the boys that played football will get one practice in with the team before the scrimmage and 2-3 or those boys may be starters.

Assistant Coach Dotson is the "cog" that keeps the juniors together? How do you figure? You heard through the grapevine he was the only reason a few kids didn't quit last year? What grapevine did that come from? He wasn't in white Co. last year he was at UTC. How did he keep some kids from quiting? As far as Dotson being that "cog"......and being able to cool off a situation. If you ask most the guys on the team they will tell you that isn't accurate. He is a cut up, but pushes the limits at times with the players.
