Trezevant football coach Teli White honored

Former University of Memphis and NBA star Penny Hardaway was on hand to honor Trezevant football coach Teli White during a program at the school Thursday.

White, who just finished leading the Bears to their best season in history, finishing 13-2 and advancing to the 4A title game, was honored for winning a Refuel America grant. The grants are sponsored by the “got milk†campaign and honor coaches who have changed their team’s recovery game plan to include low-fat chocolate milk to help give teen athletes the competitive edge.

Apparently the effects of drinking chocolate milk = 'roid rage!

Teli was honored for filling out paperwork...wootie-hoo! I'm sure those kids weren't knocking back chocolate milk after that reaming they took in Cookeville.

What a joke, he should be honored with a playoff ban for the next four years. Someone should give him an award after he completes a coaching clinic and learns how to discipline his players. Spend some time teaching young men how to grow up to be men who will be respectable parts of the community. A real head coach teaches football and life lessons on the same field. I guess atleast the award has nothing to do with his character.

I agree. I'm proud of the kids for putting in the time and sacrifice to play ball, it's just a shame they don't have better examples on and off the field.

    • They do have good community support for sure and did when I coached under Z for 4 years. (I was on that staff that turned them around a little from winning 1 game a year to actually being competitive).  Great Kids and Great Community over there.  They have done some good things with the facilities from when i coached too.
    • I personally will not mind that one bit.  It seems like a really strange fit to me from the git go.
    • Hey, I am a big fan of LC even before my friend SC got that job.  Every time I have been down there for a game, their fans have showed up and stayed positive cheering on the boys regardless of the score.  I think they have great support and great potential.  I'm coming down for some home games this year for sure.  I'm pulling for LC.
    • They didn't erect one of Zeller when he took them to the Quarter Finals in 2011 getting beat by a TD by Powell and Dy'Shawn mobley or in 2012 when they went 9-3 and finished 2nd in the conference behind Maryville. (That conference was stacked too with teams like Maryville, Catholic, West, Farragut, and Bearden)
