This was one of the best high school games (boys or girls) that I have witnessed. Packed gym with both sides loudly supporting their team - great atmosphere. Very well played game. DL just came up with one more big play at the end with a clutch 3 pointer. Congrats to both teams. Good luck to the Lady Mustangs at STATE!!!

Waverly should quit making excuses...Macon has played the entire year without their starting center. She has come back the last couple of games getting maybe 5 minutes and playing on one leg. Congrats to DL, the state tournament should be a great one. I will give props to Lewis County, went to the substate game there last year and the student section was awesome.

No excuses here. Macon played as good as they could and so did Waverly. But just making a point that in this game, Waverly played without starting center who just got hurt game before so they had to adjust and Kati Prince who played for Waverly and was the leading scorer last year only played half a year. She tore her ACL week before season started. Come back after Christmas with the ACL still torn but with a brace. So you want to talk about playing on one leg? This was peaceful thread until you showed up. Waverly had the better team but Macon was just one basket better tonight. Congrats to them.

Hats off to a great sub-state environment provided by Lewis Co. Stands were full an hour before the game and their student section was the best I have seen this year. Well played game on both sides with Lipscomb grinding out the win in a very loud & intense environment. Both Lipscomb and Lewis Count were gracious in their roles and winners and losers. Nice people at Lewis Co. A shame that one of these team had to lose tonight. Wish Lipscomb good luck next week at State and Lewis Co. the best of luck next year.

No....but you WERE making excuses. He was pointing that out. Ok, so you had your best player out. It stinks to have that happen to you, doesn't it? The girl that finally came into the game when Bean fouled out at the end? That is Macon County's original starter at center from the previous years. She has been down with injuries all year long and has rarely played. We also have another starter that has been out since the first of the year.

This was a good game and Waverly definitely clawed their way back into the competition. But to come on here and talk about how Waverly was the best team, etc.....its just YOUR opinion. Looks to me that Macon County had the better team last night.

Maybe if you had your starting center in the game, things could've been different. And maybe had OUR starting center....and other starting guard....in the game, the score would've been a little more lopsided. We can all draw different conclusions if we are dealing with hypotheticals.

Either way, this was a VERY entertaining game from tip-off to the final buzzer. What a clutch 3 at the buzzer to seal the victory for Macon County.

You forgot the young lady for Waverly that was playing on a torn ACL. Forgot to mention that Waverly also had their main sub out too who played a lot providing 3 pt shooting and ball handling. She tore her ACL after Christmas. I made the point that Macon was better last night. But I believe with both teams at full strength, no way Macon would beat Waverly.

OK, so we agree to disagree? Well, Macon is returning basically the entire team next year. Maybe we will get a chance to do it again.

OK. That is what is great about America. Waverly has most of it's team coming back also. They lose 4 kids but return some pretty good ones. If these two could meet again and put on the show they did Saturday, it would be great. It was a great game. Great to see a real competitive game. That's what it is all about.

Although my heart was broken for our girls Saturday night, it was a really good game. I too thought the atmosphere was good and there was no ugliness from either side. Our student section is always fun to watch. The boxing thing is new to me and I thought it was really cute. Always love the roller coaster. Congrats to Lipscomb and to the Lady Panthers as well. We had a great season and look forward to next year.

Lewis County's student section was one of the best I've seen in high school. The boxing thing was great. And, I liked the fact that as rabid as they were for their team, they did not get obnoxious or rude to our Lady Mustangs or our Lipscomb fans. It's no surprise that Lewis County has a string of Sportsmanship Award banners hanging in their gym.

Well done.

    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching stuff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching stuff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
    • This whole situation is bonkers. You don’t just kick your star player off the team just because you heard them say the F word; the coach definitely had something against the player, or somebody definitely did. Also, nobody has brought up the idea that the school blackmailed the college to get the college to withdraw the scholarship offer, not to mention that the coach who kicked her off is no longer even with the program; they were fired. I think this is a pretty easy lawsuit. I don’t know if she should deserve that much money, but I think she should get enough money for a full-ride scholarship if she cannot get one after this situation.
    • Oh yeah, I’m sure you are different people just always on the same thread for some reason, always agreeing with each other, perhaps just a bunch of dorks who would like to ###### and moan about high school football coaches do a lot of other students, so you make a football team and get a yell at them. When they do something wrong, but I’m sure you don’t like that, do you?   and I’m sure I’m aware of where you get information. A teacher who was on the coaching staff but was fired after the new coaching and staff came in and realized he actually had to start taking his assistant job a little bit more seriously than just wanting to make a little extra cash on the side, hardly even showing up to most practices, should’ve left with his buddy to go to Farragut. I’m sure he could get him a defensive coaching job, but I doubt he will be there in three years. Looking at the way Farragut is currently going.
