Who will win it all in AAA?

Incredibly, three of the top teams in AAA have been eliminated before the District finals (Bearden, Maryville and Siegel).

Will one of the remaining heavyweights in AAA win it all, or is this the year a new team wins it all?

Will it be:

Hendersonville

Brentwood

Hardin Valley

Riverdale

Houston

White Station

Someone else?

Any predictions?

Hopefully the information below will be helpful. The records are my best guess based on the information I could track down. Please feel free to fill in the blanks or make corrections.

AAA District Championship Match-Ups and Records...

D1 - Science Hill (14-2-2) vs. Dobyns Bennett (11-7-3)

D2 - ?

D3 - ?

D4 - Farragut (10-4-4) vs. Knox Catholic (9-9-2)

D5 - McMinn County (8-2-4) vs. Ooltewah (record?)

D6 - Cookeville (7-7-3) vs. Coffee County (5-6-3)

D7 - Riverdale (10-2-2) vs. Blackman (13-3-2)

D8 - Columbia Central (9-4-2) vs. Lincoln County (5-2-2)

D9 - Hendersonville (15-2-1) vs. Wilson Central (10-4-1)

D10 - Clarksville (12-4-3) vs. Dickson County (14-6-0)

D11 - Brentwood (14-0-3) vs. Ravenwood (11-2-1)

D12 - Overton (11-3-4) vs. Hunters Lane (10-3-6)

D13 - Jackson Northside (9-3-3) vs. Munford (4-8-2)

D14 - Arlington (record?) vs. Bolton (record?)

D15 - Houston (12-2-3) vs. Germantown (5-8-0)

D16 - White Station (12-2-3) already defeated Memphis Central (record?) 4-3 in PKs

Two teams within each of the four district blocks above will qualify for state. Brentwood, Hendersonville and Hardin Valley (if they qualify) should be the initial favorites to win AAA state.

My guess... A State Finals matchup between two teams out of Hendersonville, Hardin Valley, and Brentwood that can meet in the finals based on draw. If the draw lands all three of them on the same side at state, then I have no idea who gets through that side of the bracket.

I would not overlook the two teams moving out of the DOD in Farragut and Knox Catholic. They have both improved as the season has moved forward not unlike Hendersonville did last year.

They may be considered favorites but there are several teams that stand as good a chance as any to make it through. Houston and White Station out of West Tennessee are very strong. Ravenwood won't get blitzed by Brentwood again, and Wilson Central has come on strong knocking a very good Beech team out of the tourney. Science Hill, Riverdale and Blackman round out other teams I would expect to have a shot.

Anyone know what happened with Hardin Valley vs. Dobyns Bennett?

This one aside, we've got:

Science Hill (17-3-2)

Cookeville (11-7-3)

Riverdale (13-3-2)

N. Overton (14-3-4)

Ravenwood (15-2-1)

White Station (14-3-3)

Houston (16-2-3)

Without knowing the tournament draw, I'm going for Ravenwood to go all the way. They beat Overton who beat Brentwood AND Hendersonville (my pick to repeat). Their only losses coming to Riverdale (State final anyone?) and Brentwood, both after losing Will Linder. It's not likely he'll return this season.

With all that said, I really don't know too much about the other teams. Science Hill have posted an impressive 17 wins.

HV won 3-0 after a long rain delay.

    • Pickett is good, may have a Mr. Football like season if he’s used correctly. One of the best teams Marion has fielded in a while. I think they go 12-1 and loose to ER.  ER has better players at almost every position. If they play discipline this year, they win soundly. If they don’t though…Marion could sneak away with it.
    • I’m betting the house on the Indians. Pickett and Co will be the only team to challenge the Indians in the East. Huntingdon can in the West. I think Brooks goes 15-0 and has the first perfect season and state championship in ER history.
    • Sounds like a great opportunity has opened up for the football team.  With the head coach of the diamond rebels making it official and quitting this week, there should be some room for the gridiron guys to benefit. I assume the administration won’t continue paying six figures to two former coach that quit to continue teaching drivers Ed. Thats pretty good money that could be redirected toward the football program. Also, with the more recent policies of pushing kids to only play one sport, abolishing the baseball program altogether would help on Friday nights in the fall. There is some decent speed on that baseball team that should’ve been playing on Fridays IMO. I’m not sure if anybody would really miss that baseball program anyway with it being across town from the school. The liability of letting players actually use the facilities could also be mitigated with closing the program. That liability seems to be a really big issue for 825. Anyway, it seems like a great opportunity is available.
