How good is BGA?

Solid performance by BGA tonight. Do they deserve to be mentioned with BA, Baylor, and Ensworth this year for best in DII-AA? I know I'm biased but are we really that good?

BGA's good. But it is too soon to tell, we will find out soon. They are 5-0. They have beaten:

Smyrna (2-3)

Ravenwood (2-3)

JPII (2-3)

Pearl Cohn (3-2)

MBA (1-4)

Ravenwood lost tonight 41-0 to a very average Brentwood team, MBA is awful, JPII is horrible, BGA's best win is over Pearl Cohn, which is good but is not the caliber of a top DII team in my opinion.

Congratulations to BGA on your win tonight. Hard to judge how good BGA is by this win since MBA is having a very bad year. If you play Baylor, BA you will find out.

It should not that hard to give a team credit for their win. Grow up. BGA is playing good ball, last time i heard a win was a win. Go Wildcats. Congrats on a team effort. Shout out to my son #10 BGA Wildcats I'm so proud of you.

Keep up the great work.

BGA is as good as their QB...end of story.

The BGA defense is not at the Baylor or BA level yet. But if their defense gives up lots of points then the BGA offense (QB) can counter by putting up points and keep games close.

MBA had the right game plan to keep him off the field. They just didn't execute the game plan.

A team with Good ball control will beat BGA.

Bga is more than beathard. Their receivers run great routes and do a great job blocking downfield. They do a lot wit the ball after the catch. When they went shotgun+5 wide we had no answers for them. No pressure, no tight coverage...constantly gave up yards after the catch.

Beathard's only incompletion in the 2nd half I can remember came on his best throw of the night. From his back foot, facing pressure (rare), he launched it 40 yards down the sideline and our db was called for PI.

Their d made big plays when it had to. Two huge ints; one called back on a questionable pi call. Would have turned it into a rout earlier.

Reread the title of the thread and then my post. I congratulated BGA on the win. Then I responded to the title of the post....how good is BGA. I answered how I feel. The real test for BGA will be when they play a BA or Baylor they will know. Sorry to say MBA is having a bad year so we may not be a test this year. BGA outplayed MBA hands down. But grow up? Really? I just answered the thread title. Maybe Dad needs to grow up and not be so sensitive.

Dead on. They run a very precise, timing-oriented offense, and they execute it well. Certainly Beathard drives the bus, but he has a talented supporting cast. I don't know how they stack up against the other teams coming up on their schedule, but they've beaten everyone they've plays; that has to count for something.

    • Yeah, but if he goes to Science Hill they are guaranteed at least a win over Kingsport and that's basically the NET Superbowl
    • I expect Sevier County might be pretty good, perhaps Mo West as well.     But I don't see either of them getting out of round 2.          The rest of the region gets smoked in round 1.            Except for those once-in-a-blue-moon anomaly years the NET big schools are pretty much the same every season.
    • Wanted to see if all of you would lift up Kyle James family in prayer. Kyle was one of the best wrestlers to ever come out of Soddy Daisy and as some of you know he lost his house a few weeks ago and now his family and friends mourns his passing. Not sure if any of you were around in early 2000’s when Kyle was wrestling at Soddy, but he was a 3 time state champ and a Fargo AA along with going to Colorado to train to make the Olympic team. That goal was never reached due to medical issues, but he was an amazing wrestler and his family is as good as gold. If you were around at that time and have any pictures of Kyle, please go onto Alexy Winesburgh FB page and post. Thanks, Doug Benton
    • My opinion the 8 teams will be-  Greenback, Wartburg, Gordonsville, Jo Byrns, Eagleville, Bruceton, Dresden, and South Fulton. Gordonsviile is probably the favorite but I wont say it will be an easy road. With the right draw any of the 8 could win it.
    • I understand Gibson Co. will be announced tomorrow with a familiar name. Not sure about So. Gibson.
