Hillsboro Football

Anyone that thinks replacing Coach Moreno at Hillsboro will solve their problems is, in my opinion, a blooming idiot. I can not think of a more knowledgeable coach who treats his players with dignity and respect in and around Metro Nashville than Coach Moreno. Once again, it is a lack of quality players at Hillsboro at this time that is the problem, not the coaching.

My understanding is that you are absolutely correct in your opinion about a possible blooming idiot.

He is not going anywhere. Principal and him have not gotten along for a long time and he is still our coach. Leave this alone and lets play football.

Looks like even your own newspaper (Joe Williams, Williamson Herald) is picking up on this;

Clayton is gone and is not going out a winner. He sees the handwriting. Happy trails.

If this is a reference to Hillsboro getting a new football coach,then this is lowdown and sorry. For anyone to suggest that a coach is coming to metro and take another coach's job is about as pitiful as it gets. Coaching is very difficult without all this crap being said.

Point your finger at the one that started all this with plans of bringing a new coach...

Metro just recycles the old guys that have been in the system for years. Rarely do they bring in any new blood to try and build up programs. They are as bad as the NBA, NFL, and MLB as far as the merry go round of coaches.

There will be as many as 5 openings in metro after this season,it will be interesting as to how many so called outsiders apply. Be careful what you ask for,sometimes you get it.

Run I can see the following openings: East Lit, Hillsboro, Hillwood, Hunters Lane, Cane Ridge, and Overton. I see East simply due to Wilson's health. I hope he is doing better but only he knows for sure if he can go another year. I see Hillsboro simply because they have gone way down and I do not see them improving in their district. I see Hillwood just because I dont know how much longer Bubba wants to coach. I see Hunters Lane because they are like Hillsboro. They have gone way down. I see Cane Ridge since Abner still is yet to produce. And finally I see Overton simply because I dont know how much more Terry can take. I could also see Stratford on this list because Jason hasnt produced either.

Out of all of these I see at least three openings with a possible seven. It would be a complete turnover in metro. Hunters Lane and Cane Ridge have the athletes and those could be decent jobs. Overton could be a good job if it werent a band school! The others I wouldnt want any part of. Like you said, be careful what you ask for.

Hunters Lane won't be available due to Coach Darnell just getting the job this summer. Hillwood won't be looking for another coach because Principal and HC are great friends, and they are content with status quo. I agree with you about East Lit. unfortunately. Cane Ridge has the Mark Richt of metro football (very nice guys - not many quality wins) I would like to see Crawford have a chance as HC at Overton when T. Anderson puts his whistle down. Hillsboro vs. Centennial might be a make or break game for the Hillsboro's staff imo. Stratford is a tough situation but they have a guy who works real hard and is an alum i think. The Spartans could be a much better ball club if they could get a few more quality teachers/coaches in the building to help Jason.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
