Lee and Chase had much rather walk off this stage with the smaller trophy and prepare for the State Championship, big stage game Thursday than the other way around.

Agreed, and this will only make those two more determined.

That being said, I'm sure every year there are the same old statements made over and over about who should have won and who shouldn't have but this is one for the ages if you ask me. I'm not that knowledgeable about the lineman, I'm sure they were all very deserving so I won't comment. Hensley has another year and I expect him to be standing up there again. As for the Back....not to take away anything from Blance, the wrong person walked off the stage with that one. Mr. Football 2011 should be based on, well 2011.

Congrats to all the winners. I'm not trying to take away from nor discredit accomplishments. But I would love to hear differing opinions as long as they are back up by reasonable facts.

This is about all the "reasonable facts" anyone should need:

Blance has had a great 4 year career at Webb. Rushing for over 5,000 yards. 1,000 of those yards came as a freshman against the big boys in Div II-AA. Caleb has 2 state championships and will be on the all state team for the 4th straight year. His career record at webb is 37-10 and he dominated competition this year even without his dynamic brother. The combination of Caleb and Aaron blance resulted in only 1 loss in 2 years on a missed field goal! It's hard to see webb not in the state championship again this year if not for the dismissal of Aaron Blance and the team almost taking usj for granted after two blowouts wins in previous years. Caleb deserves this award hands down for his dominance every year (including this one) and heart he brought to every game. The hardest working kid I have ever seen who does things the RIGHT way. Congrats to Caleb Blance, 2011 Mr. Football, 4 Time ALL-State, 2 time state champion.

    • Worst thing SC could do is get rid of Dyer. I agree with everything said above.
    • Jada Hart, Jasmine Bailey and Kaitlyn Patterson the first two being PG's are all good guards and can handle ball pressure and are good players. Raven Wells will be a good post. There were games this summer where any one of the one's I mentioned were in double figures. Gibson County will control TO's much better this year and they will press more and get back to playing faster. AA is down across the board. I have been all over watching ball. Alcoa jumped to AAA and Jackson County moved down. to A. No telling who wins it this year. I agree Union City, Westview and Gibson County will be a dogfight and must see basketball. Poster insuated that Gibson County has a mental block against Westview. Well give me Maddie Gray and we line up last year and they wouldn't have won a game. Let's see how Westview does this year. Their starting five last year had three transfers in it. Rogers from Obion, Trevathon from Greenfield and Gray from South Fulton. Looks like they swung and missed with the girl from Florida this year so let's see how they do playing with kids from Westview. Gibson County has a really good 7th grade class this year.I have done learned you play with what you got and work them hard and develop them and see what happens. Just keep battling and see what happens. I like our team this year. Very athletic. Every year is the same with injuries and can be catistrophic to any. I watched GC all summer long. South Side and GC was very evenly matched and was a classic war.We had some quality wins this summer. Beat Huntingdon, Henry County, Bowling Green, Liitle Rock Central as well as a couple other quality Kentucky Teams. Westview's talent pool may not be what it has been without transfers the next few.
    • I think Gibson County is a top five team this next season but I do agree they will drop off a lot after this year.  Westview lost a ton and will be down this season and hopes of returning to glass house again is slim.  The run they have had is super impressive!
    • My take on GC for this year: Based on what I saw last year and heard this summer, I’m not sure GC could surprise me next year with any outcome. Wilkins is a great coach - they could win the district and region and go to Murfreesboro. They could also come in third in the district and not get out of region. The two returning starters are very talented but Guru is right that they didn’t always play hard last year. The other three starters are good enough in their roles for GC to be successful. There is no depth. Foul trouble could be a problem - Wilkins may avoid it by playing a lot of zone. An injury would be catastrophic. I hope they have a big year and Wilkins rides off into the sunset in Murfreesboro because, without some significant transfers, there are some tough years coming in the next few.
    • Daniel Boone coming down to 3A makes this much tougher. They added a couple transfers to the Flores girl. Cocke Co, Northview, Greeneville, and Daniel Boone - only two headed to Murfreesboro.
