Football in the East

Congrats to 2A Friendship Christian, 3A CAK, 4A Greeneville, and 6A Maryville for the bringing the gold ball home in state championship football. 4 out of 6 teams from the East.....great job! Still a great year for South Pitt and Powell, congrats on your season. FOOTBALL IS BEAST IN THE EAST !!

FCS of Lebanon is still considered on the East side in football playoffs and championhips. The football state championship games are divided East vs West. There is no middle. It's just the way TSSAA divides them.

 

Also, My original post was only D1. I don't keep up with D2.....not enough of them.

If'n your east of the mighty Tn river,ie Dickson, your an east Tennesseen according to Memphis folk. We will send some teams over that way because of tssaa seeding, but not on purpose. Shoot, I wish they would let us send more to make it fair.

I also don't follow DII very closely but the East (by play-off bracket) did dominate DI as has been the case recently. I mean the 2 West wins were ball games to the end with one win by only 2 points (I think). Of the 4 East wins 3 were mercy rule games with the fourth being close through 3 quarters but ending 23-7.

Don't disagree about the strength of the east. I live here and support the teams from the east. Just added what I did for accuracy. So, in essense, four of the six DI champs came from the east half of the bracket. Good job. Just wish Powell could have won. Know some of the folks there.
