Another tight one.....although we played at or close to the lead all night. I think Wartburg's biggest lead was 3 and ours was 6? Don't hold me to that but I'm not far off. Stephens (Oneida) is very good when given the ball to finish positions. The big post for Wartburg was effective guarding because she was so physical....once she got in foul trouble the other posts struggled to contain the Oneida post. (25 points) Wartburg has a good starting five and they drop just a little when digging into their bench, but they all seem to give it a good go. We have been somewhat successful (7-2) but there is no question we have yet to play our best basketball. Last night was another game that should help us in the long run deal with pressure situations. Oneida has a deeper and stronger bench than both the teams they faced so far.....now it is on to the Bobcat Den.

How about the game Friday....any Lady Bobcat Fans with an opinion? Love Coach C and her ever changing defenses. I'm sure the confusion it causes bugs coaches preperation for them. Very hard to prepare for and their assistant coach was up here scouting us the other night. I think the key to beating them most of the time is handling their pressure while creating a little yourself, although their guards (the twins) seem to be very "heady" players.

I don't see a lot of difference between wartburg and Oneida, rumor has it warts best sub is not playing over some issues and their best post off bench is looking to come back from knee injury. By January both will probably be competing and if so may mean trouble at tourney time. I think they are a solid 3rd with a chance to win tourney. Remember the year they beat us they were 5 th going into the tournament.

The biggest difference I see is Oneida has yet to put together 4 quarters with any consistency up to this point. I would be a little surprised if someone else emerges for Wartburg that is better than the current line-up they have. Will additional players improve their depth....yes...but that wasn't particularly a problem for them last night. They only had one in foul trouble late in the fourth. I do agree they will be a dangerous team to play....they already are IMO. They are certainly not an easy out for anyone.....including OS.

Oh for the love of biscuits......! Have they gag ordered the entire district?????

I mean, for me, it would seem interesting to hear comments from game to game from the fans. So far all we got is everybody (about 7 people) thinks Oliver Springs is going to win it and Oneida, Wartburg, Oakdale are next (in no particular order. Then Jellico and Sunbright are cellar dwellers?

Any surprises? Which team is best equipped to overcome an injury or two? Who is the top player? Most likely upset? Deepest bench? Best coaching and why? Any newcomers that have been on the radar? Does anyone check this stuff out anymore? :roflol: :roflol: :roflol:

Wartburg has a good post and a good point player that haven't played. They could give 6-10 ppg between them and that would change things for wartburg an awful lot. To dispute that is kinda dumb.

As for who the best coach is, Davis has done more than any in his 5 years, but West, Christopher, Snow, and Hines are all very accomplished. I'd say the district has good coaches in 5 schools and that is good for those kids. No best coach but many schools cold do worse than the names found in this district.

Nobody want's to debate anymore because all simply want to be nasty with comments. It's better when it's quiet.

Hmmmm.....that didn't go well. (Understatement of the year) OS girls took us to the woodshed and we did not respond at all....! There were few bright spots and certainly not enough to comment on unless your a Lady Bobcat Fan. I believe the Twins are the primary keys to the OS engine....they are relentless and as long as they stay out of foul trouble.....they are going to drive teams nuts. Beating them requires neutralizing their ability to score off their turnovers. So you have to take care of the ball AND force them into scoring primarily out of their halfcourt sets....not easy to do. I hope our girls understand "Humble Pie" doesn't have to be eaten repeatedly.

OS played well with a complete team effort.

I agree......and when one team plays poorly and the other is as efficient as the Lady Bobcats were, your looking at the wrong end of the chainsaw!!!! Frustrating that we haven't played many games this year up to our potential. Some players just don't take ownership these days. Course I could just be an old fogey full of hot air, huh!?!? Good thing the next hill isn't as steep....lets you get some mojo back!

Build the house on the sturdiest of foundations.....or it will surely fall to rubble. The pathway must not lead between the Identical Towers. Either pass to the left or the right because to challenge in the center is foolhearty. The key is to isolate the strength of the columns.

After a "listless" first half, Sunbright proved to be outmanned last night.

Do not disregard the saying.....it holds truth.

Coalfield over Harriman.....is that a surprise? Harriman must be a little dow since Coalfield is currently just a .500 club. Then again maybe the Lady Jackets are playing a tough schedule.

Know your Pujobi's.......the ore you mine should be found with the sharpest bit! Kazanity has seen the Tea Leaves and they are dry at this time of the month.

P.S. Merry Christmas

    • Why did the coach get rehired after she was let go as an assistant by the former Warren County coach and the current AD?? Is that accurate?? I am very familiar with situations like this. Suprised lawsuits haven't happend before. If the coach unfairly let the player go, I think she has a shot because it cost her a scholarship. No college is going to offer a scholarship to a player that is kicked off of the team. Not going to happen. There are bad hires like this a bunch and kids are treated unfairly by coaches that can't coach a lick and have super long ropes somehow. Amazing how some of these coaches get hired and keep their job.
    • I am going to assume you are not a lawyer, and most reasonable lawyers would not say the lawsuit has a zero percent chance in court. I agree with you that a coach has the ability to dismiss anyone from a team. However, Ms. Winfree was never presented with the opportunity to present her witnesses and have them tell the coaches and administrators what they heard. A lawyer could better explain the lawsuit and the grounds to you. Before you start making wild assumptions about the lawsuit, would it be too much to ask that you do a little legal research first? The lawsuit is dealing with due process, loss of property, and defamation.   You can read the lawsuit here: https://bdnewsletter.files.wordpress.com/2024/04/doc-1-complaint-filed-4-18-2024.pdf
    • The administration took the path of backing the coach and whispering to people that the kid was a problem. The reality is that the kid was never a problem on a team or classroom. The player says she has witnessed who back her not saying the f-word.  Why did the coach make that story up and other stories? I am not Sigmund Freud and do not have an answer for the ex=-coach's behavior..
    • I think they have they coach they want close to being done. I guess we will all see how this plays out. I hope the hire a good one. There are some players in the box for the next coach to work with.
