The only team from Region 1 that has disappeared is Hancock County. The others do a pretty good job of filling a team. In fact, SG and CDHS just split from a co-op program so they are probably lower in numbers for that reason alone.

 

We have at least two teams that will start a wrestling program if we can get them past the hurdle of mats and uniforms. That is the big problem in our part of the state. Hard to raise those funds.

 

I think, however, that you are reinforcing the argument FOR an A/AA state tournament. TSSAA and TACA are wanting to increase participation numbers in the schools that you are trying to call into question. The state is not going to increase numbers at the AAA level. A/AA and girls programs are the areas where growth can quickly occur.
