Defensive? You bet! I was defensive because I thought you were accusing CA and NCS of cheating; I did not understand you were just making a statement that private schools should be in a separate class. I'm glad to know you are not accusing CA and NCS of cheating.

There is a board just for the private/public debate, as Moto pointed out. I won't debate the public/private issue here, and you probably should refrain from posting your thoughts on it here as well. My apology to you Watkinsfan for misinterpreting your post on public/private.

Quad#3 looks very interesting any team can make a pretty good run in the playoffs this year. Here are my predictions for quad#3 first Collinwood has a bye so they will be in the next round for sure they will get the winer of Jo Bryn's Wayne Co game this game will be very interesting for sure i think both teams are verily evenly matched on offense and defense sides of the ball who ever wins this game will because of there defense of play. I that Jo Bryn's will win this game bye a few points and because they will be @ the Dungeon as well. but after that i think @ Collinwood will be a different story but that game will be close as well in round 2 and Collinwood wins that game in a close one. Then the winner of The NCS Vs McEwen game will face Clarksville Academy @ there place. I think this game between NCS Vs McEwen game wont be as colse as the last time NCS has faced McEwen in the Regular season. But any thing can happen in the playoffs right. I think NCS will use the momentum from the last weeks game VS JB going into this first round of the playoffs for a warm up game for round 2 @ CA. I think NCS is a much improved team now a puts a beat down on McEwen. Then the next round @ CA should be a fun game for both CA fans and NCS fans to watch, NCS would be coming to CA with a 9-2 record thats if they beat McEwen in the first round. I think the NCS and CA game will tell us what NCS is made of or the CA team is like as well this year. I think that NCS will beat CA in round 2 because we are coming into the playoffs strong from the second half of the year. Are defense is much more improved each week especially on those 3 downs and 4th downs drives. I also think if we get the offense hot on the first two rounds we will surprise a lot of people in our Quad#3. I think NCS has a shot of beating CA in the playoffs. If NCS has there A game on both sides of the ball they will be a dangerous team for CA. I say it will be a tough battle for both teams for sure in this match up. I say NCS will win this match up this time and get to the Quarterfinals. But up to that point i don't think they will Advance after Collinwood is too good on offense side of the ball an defense of side as well they have the size too. they are huge. Just a bad match up for either NCS or CA. I guess we will all see how it goes bye each round in the Playoffs should be fun to watch for sure.

Coach Hood and his staff have nothing but class. They are smart enough to know that you can still lose the game until the end of the 4th quarter. Remember our game against HC. He is trying to get the score to the 35 point spread as soon as he can, so that the second half can go to continuous clock. McEwen is a dangerous team that can put up some points and make a game out of it anytime. So, if you hear him say, he wants his team to score as many points as they can, its because he is trying to ensure victory. Not run up the score on another team. Most of our starters were out in the second half. He was only able to do that because the team had a comfortable margin at the half.

When we were getting beat down by Portland, we didn't whine and complain about it. That's how the game is played within the rules that we have. They were a 5A team with more depth and more athletes than we had. Portland made the 5A playoffs coming out of a tough district. They did what they had to do, and so does Clarksville Academy.

I am proud that my son plays for Coach Hood and his staff. They are coaching a program that some said would never have success. They get the absolute most out of their players. Above all Coach Hood has made them believe that they can win if they work hard enough and give their best effort every week. To me that is class.

I would expect you to say nothing less considering you have a son playing for the man. However, I would like for you to look at your post from a logical standpoint. It is always wise to read your post before pushing the old send/post button.

Couple of things I will point out. First, of course you have to play for 4 quarters, coach speak, blah, blah, blah. We all know that. But this was totally different from the Houston County game based on my understanding of that game. In the CA-HC game we're talking about a 20-6 game in the 4th quarter, not 38-0 in the 1st half. And as I pointed out McEwen had not crossed the 50 yard line! Sounds as if the Houston County game was competitive from the beginning, the McEwen game was not even competitive in warm ups! But go back and read my post, there IS UNDER 3 MINUTES LEFT IN THE FIRST HALF WITH McEWEN TRYING TO RUN OUT THE CLOCK WITH THE SCORE 38-0 AND COACH HOOD CALLS A TIMEOUT TO STOP THE CLOCK TO TRY TO GET THE BALL BACK. THEN WITH ABOUT 10 SECONDS LEFT HE CALLS TIMEOUT TO SET UP A FINAL PLAY and throws a bomb which scores to make it 45-0 at half.

Secondly, "McEwen is a dangerous team that can put up some points and make a game out of it anytime." has no one ever said this year! Except you in defending Coach Hood.

So your point about the continuous clock is incorrect because it was already 38-0 when he calls timeouts and tries to light up McEwen even more. Furthermore, I'm not whining and complaining because I was just there watching a game and making observations. I have not seen any McEwen people whining and complaining on this thread. I was simply pointing out that I thought it was pretty classless.

Again as a CA supporter and parent I expect you to support Coach Hood but being a good coach and making your players believe, etc., etc. is not equivalent to having class. Kicking a team that is obviously not competitive on a particular night and running up the score is not class. I'm all about playing within the rules and winning blah blah blah. If Coach Hood and his staff say we are going to score as much and as often as we can without regard to how bad we beat anybody then that is perfectly within the rules. But don't defend that attitude as being one of class. I have seen CA be on the other side of those games and remember what goes around comes around long after coach for hire goes on to the next destination. But this is all just my opinion.

Good luck to everyone this Friday night.

@watkinsfan and HCallumni11 good luck to you all in the playoffs. I am glad to see HC have a great season. It has been a long time since I have seen a good Irish team. Before Clark wasn't the last playoff team with Busey in 04?

Clark is an excellent coach. He has done a lot for this program. i think he deserves coach of 10A again.

HC made the playoffs in 02 with Busey. They've made it this yr as well as last yr with Clark

I know they made it with Clark last year... I was meaning before that. I couldn't remember which year they went with Busey. I thought it was 04. But 02 was with Roby at QB right?

@HCalumnia11- I agree. He has done a darn good job. I hope he doesn't jump ship when a big school opens up.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
