Big 8 Week 3

Combines and camps are very important. Highlight videos help as well as phone calls from creditable coaches. But, most of your D-1 coaches like to physically see the athlete move. Of course, height, weight and 40 times all weigh in the decision making process.

The highlighted above falls into the "It's a product of quite a few things." that I mentioned earlier. It is a concerted effort that usually starts with the head coach's willingness to do the 'extra work' involved. Basically, everyone involved has a vested interest. The coach gets his players to attend these camps early in their high school football careers and they get to see first hand what they have to do to improve. That in of in itself helps the 'program' because the student athlete sees the value and need of a rigorous 'off season' regime in order to become one of the elite. Plus ... considerable amount of time spent at these evaluation settings allows the student athlete to learn about the process. Knowledge is key. They then, in turn, inform the younger student athletes and help to prepare them. The coach in turn, has his student athlete grow into leadership both on and off of the field. He also doesn't have to 'push' them to get their off season work done ... they see the benefits for themselves. Its like a self fulfilling prophecy. The parents of these young men see their sons grow and mature ... the other parents see the benefits and they want their sons involved as well. The whole time ... the football program gets better quality athletes. The student athlete sees the importance of grades early on. Everybody wins.

I would hate to be a DB football player and get on here and see all of the great fan support. Their own fans picking them to lose or undecided on the outcome. All they've done is practically score on every possession and blow people out. With Fans like DB's it's like an away game every week.

Lets say this is a Voluntear or Central Thread, or maybe even a Davey Crockett thread and say they were playing someone like Tennessee High or South. How smart do you think their fans would look if they came on the thread and picked their team to win. And to explain it futher (because I know your not smart enough to read between the lines), there could be two things at work here. Some people may actually think Sevier Co. has the better team and will win, and some people might be picking Sevier Co. for other reasons. Most posters here will figure out what im talking about but probably not you.

I hope the players are to tired from practice, homework and things that really matter like girls,to care what we think.I posted before SC's last game DB would win by a couple of touchdowns. Some of the naysayers have cut DB's margin of loss back by a few points,so that's headed in the right direction. The ultimate DB naysayer hasn't made a showing yet.{watchdog}.You have to love what he writes about DB.

Is it not funny how all these Memphis area kids are ranked in the top 25 yet the Gold Balls always come to East TN. Anyone find this strange, or is it just me?

Red81KPsmash:

Its not strange. It's a product of quite a few things. Most importantly though ... Some of the Memphis coaches have figured out HOW to get their players exposed. Combine that with the vast amount of TALENT in Memphis ... the sheer numbers ... and you would realize ... its not strange at all.

Were not talking about two mismatched teams were talking two good football teams so your first statement does not apply. Also, the statement in bold above might be the dumbest thing I have ever seen you post. DB fans and their masterplan. Watch out SC you have no idea what you are up against.

Your killing me Sasquatch....DB's away crowds are the best...usually out number the home team and are all rowdy. I am decided that DB will win, never had another thought...I just haven't figured out how many times Sevier County will score trying to keep it close. I say the Indians score on 7 of 9 or 10 possesions. I got a score coming to and you will be the first to know,

Good to see a DB fan stepping up! I say DB by 2 or 3 TD's. it will depend on if GC falls asleep in the second half or not.

Now...I'm sure you know that if the Indians and the Blazers both take care of business this Friday.....next Friday is Boone at DB - both teams 4-0, the winner to be at least tied for the Conference lead. But I can't wait for this Friday first.

DB 49

Sevier County 35

Big plays for DB, big plays for Sevier County, bring you recording devices for sure. I think #8 Devon Swafford is the differnece in this game plain and simple.
