November 10th Blue Raider Preseason Classic

MTSU Wrestling and Beech H.S. will be hosting a preseason FOLKSTYLE tournament that will include middle school all the way to collegiate wrestling at Beech High School on November 10th, 2012.

 

This was planned as a Triple Crown Event with Freestyle and Greco being held on Friday, but this event will be moved to either April or May of 2013.

 

We are working on getting weight management (hydration) there that morning.

 

Weigh-ins will be done from 7-8:30 am with wrestling to begin at 9 am. (subject to change depending on # of wrestlers that day)

 

Beech H.S. will have at minimum of 5 full mats running with 2 of them being MTSU 42' x 42' mats.

 

The NCAA Collegiate Open Division (must be on a Collegiate Roster to participate or Redshirted) will include riding time and have NCAA Referees.

 

The cost for entry in the middle school and high school divisions will be $10.

 

The cost for entry in the collegiate division will be $15.

 

All proceeds from entry fees and gate ($8 entry adults $4 student/children) will go to the MTSU Wrestling Scholarship Fund.

 

All proceeds from concessions will go to the Beech H.S. wrestling team.

 

We should be able to handle 400-500 wrestlers and get you home at a reasonable time.

 

T-shirts for the tournament will be available for purchase at the event for $15 and we will have a special banner and decal booth there in order to make some custom window decals to support your favorite wrestler...once again all proceeds benefiting the MTSU Wrestling Scholarship Fund.

As per TSSAA rules, no awards will be given, but results will be posted at www.blueraiderwrestling DOT com. Medals will be given for the collegiate division.

Please post here if you school is planning on attending so we can start planning for numbers. This should be a GREAT day of wrestling celebrating every level offered in Middle Tennessee!

I only ask because the triple crown was Youth, MS, and HS. Any idea on when the TNAAU schedule will be released?

If we have room for it, I don't see there being a problem to be honest...but it will all come down to space/time. Now that this event was moved to preseason H.S. and in-season for College, it becomes more difficult to run as a Triple Crown.

It would be great. The TNAAU kids normally don't get to start until December unless you travel to OH or GA. I would be great to see our kids get an opportunity to do some pre-seasom stuff even if it is just a takedown tournament.

PRESEASON WRESTLING TOURNAMENT

 

Saturday, November 10th, 2012

 

Entry Fee is $10 per wrestler.

 

WEIGHT CERTIFICATION/HYDRATION TESTING SITE

Beech H.S. will be a mass testing site for Hydration and Weight Certification at 1 pm.

 

5 MATS will be used at Beech H.S. (3 high school and 2 MTSU collegiate mats)

 

Weigh-ins will be from 7 am - 8:30 am on Saturday morning AT Beech H.S.

 

High schools bringing squads please email me your lineups and approximate weight classes by Thursday November 8th at noon

Please indicate skill level 1-4 (Elite-1, Good-2, Fair-3, Beginner-4)

 

We will be using the folder system with 4-5 wrestlers in each division to match up weights and skill level. All matches will be three 1:30 minute periods.

 

We will have a division for Middle School, High School, and College (Rostered athletes only for College).

 

MTSU Wrestling will be hosting a special mat-cleaning session at 7:30 am using the 'Protect n' Shield' system to eliminate microbes and skin infections from your mat.

 

Wrestling will begin at 9 am and will continue until completion.

 

Cost for Fans is $8 for Adults and $4 for Students
