logcabinman
Central has played 3 out of 4 quality opponents and have shot themselves in the foot in 2 of the games and ran out of gas against 6A foe. I think if they continue to play at the same level, limit turnovers they pull this one out. This game is always a weird one though. Meigs will play tough but I think they will have trouble stopping MC offense.
DrFlint
3 of Central's 4 opponents have been quality teams, and they are 0-3 in those games. Make all the excuses you want, but moral victories are for losers, IMHO. McMinn (very good team), Polk, and Loudon (decent teams) made more plays and won those games all by themselves. With that said, Meigs Co. is not a decent team. Central will roll in this one and continue to roll until they face another team of quality. Good luck! It is what it is- in all those games MC gave the ball away and got beat. That is football. Have you even seen MC play? They have the potential to beat every team left on the schedule, now will they- who knows? Who do you say their next quality opponent is? Put MC with Seq. schedule, they would have the same record as them. Give them Sweetwater schedule and they are 4-0. I garauntee if either of these teams had the same schedule they would have the same record as MC. So don't hate just yet.
DrFlint
I'm not hating at all logcabinman. I respect the staff at MC, but having a chance in games isn't how I define success. To answer your question, yes I have seen MC play. They are much improved but still lack a little toughness on both sides of the ball, IMO. And I agree on your point about the Chiefs and Sweetwater, but my point is they aren't very good either. Kudos to Central though for playing the 2nd toughest slate in 5-AA. I say their next quality opponent is Kingston, which is also the only game they will lose the rest of the way IMO.

Here I go jumping to conclusions, sorry for my hissy fit. I feel I have been defending these boys for so long. I agree with your statement on success, but I think that it is not toughness-but sometimes mental mistakes gets the best of them. With that being said, you are right these boys have to learn to win. DrFlint you, through some of your post-I think are involved in the youth leagues? If I am correct can we please help our league change the weight limit for the juniors only. I think this only hurts our boys, meaning all of our district, when it comes to working with these kids. For example, the QB and RB are both fighting to make weight at Central Knights program. The RB is a true "RB" and thats where he will spend his high school ball. Looking at Polk and Seq. they always have that big bruiser of a back. The other thing is the age. Don't get me wrong I don't want to see 15 year olds out there, but to punish a 14 year old boy from playing ball is crazy. I have a son that will fall under this category. He will turn 14 on May 31st of his 8th grade year. We did this to help him academically, and I wish I would have done this with my older son, a sophmore that just turned 15. I have no problem with putting a weight limit on a 14 year old- maybe 165lbs. but I feel some of these kids will be left out. I wonder how they handle this is Blount County league? They are looking much better, but they will lose atleast 2 out of 3 during their 3 week road trip to Sequoyah, Sweetwater, and Kingston. They beat Meigs and Bledsoe, Stone will be alittle tougher but they should win. Things are looking up!!!!

Seeing them play at the jamboree they just did not impress me. Again it could just be the fact they were mixed starters/non-starters. Could someone confince me why they are going to be good - and I am not saying they are not. I just don't know?
dumdum
Bad blood in this game from past years, Chargers in a big way 49-14.

Just my humble opinion...they have a little size and some speed this year and more importantly, they have the best staff they have had up there in years. Getting the kids to believe after some down years is huge...as you have witnessed first hand...and their kids are starting to believe in themselves. I am waiting on the outcome of the Sweetwater - Polk game to get the proper read of what they really are this year. But as for now...4-0 against anybody ain't doing too bad! logcabinman
Good win tonight. Refs threw enough flags to quilt a blanket. Keep your head up Meigs and good luck the rest of the way.
