  1. Goodluck to the Sweetwater, lay it on the line and keep workin hard! As always I pray for a good hardfought game and that everyone comesout injury free. GO CATS!!!
  2. Very well said 5wildcat3. Sweetwater also had 2 key turnovers and they were both inside the 3yd line! So to say that Tyner had their chances and just didn't finish? Both teams had chances to score more points. The fact is Sweetwater was the team that controlled the line of scrimmage, even against that big line! Congrats to the Wildcats. One more thing the Cats also finished the game without a key senior #15 was out of the game much of the 2nd half and thats when Tyner started moving the ball and got caught up, to the Wildcats credit they came together when it counted and finished off Tyner without Arwood in the game!
  3. CAK is weaker than last year but Loudon won't be able to keep up with the scoring. If Loudon can control the clock with the ground game than it will be alittle closer, but CAK 45 - 20. CAK better improve alot on the run defense or they could fall in the 2nd or 3rd round this year, even with High and company.
  4. While I don't like all the rules in the Sequoyah Conference, and there is alittle to much Daddy ball, you will run into that somewhat in most leagues. The league is far from a joke! I also have watched several youth programs from all around the area play, including Maryville, Alcoa, and many of the Knox. County teams, and there are some verygood teams in this league that can compete with some of the best in the area. I have also watched some of these teams play in the Rocky top tourny in the past and they fared well against some verygood teams including ones from out of the State. Things have loosened abit and I don't like some of the new teams that have joined, cause it has brought the quality of play down, but I do understand that teams like Rogers Creek and acouple others, deserve to play to, but....... -There are actually 14 teams in the league now. Sweetwater, Loudon, Riceville, Lenior City, Athens, Polk Co., Madisonville, Central(etowah), Greenback, Tellico, Meigs Co., Vonore, Englewood, and Rogers Creek.
  5. - I also have much respect for the Polk program of the last several years. One thing you can count on when you go to Polk, is a tough hard nosed football team that plays together and never quits! Goodluck to both teams and I pray everyone plays hard and stays healthy!
  6. - Mcminn Central is infact a very much improved team! They are looking much better, but they will lose atleast 2 out of 3 during their 3 week road trip to Sequoyah, Sweetwater, and Kingston. They beat Meigs and Bledsoe, Stone will be alittle tougher but they should win. Things are looking up!!!!
  7. - This will be a better game than most are thinking. I agree Sweetwater schedule hasn't been very tough starting out, but this game will answer alot of questions. Won't be 20+ unless something crazy happens! Injuries have decimated Sweetwater the last 2 yrs. they haven't been deep teams and when you lose 2 of your 3 top players to season ending injuries( J. Moore, Eli Arwood), like last yr, in addition to several more players, and you don't have depth it can kill you! - Not saying Sweetwater wins tthis game, but they will compete and have a chance too... - Logcabinman, Sweetwater was 3-1 lastyear after 4 games. They started 3-0 then lost Moore 4th week and I believe Arwood 6th game.. In yrs past Sweetwater used to be deeper than most 2a teams, but that hasn't been the case the last several yrs. , and it has killed them towards trhe end of the season, especially the last 2 yrs! Once again this year a huge key to the whole season, will be staying heathy!
  8. I feel sorry for the players, Coaches, and some of the parents from Mcminn. Like I hate how things are goin at Central now. When Central had some decent teams, they talked to much crap and never made it far in the playoffs, now it is the opposite. I used to laugh at all the crap the Central fans would talk when they would have a strong regular season only to get embarrased in the 1st round by a 3rd or 4th place team out of another region! Now I do feel sorry for the players, keep your heads up and play hard! Things will get better!!!!!!!!!!
  9. I feel sorry for the players, Coaches, and some of the parents from Mcminn. see other thread! .... Loudon is alittle down, Mcminn is alot down. Like I said I hate how things are goin at Central now. Loudon 38 - 13.
  10. Sweetwater is for sure headed in the right direction! They have put together quite a Coaching staff. With Coach Marsh and Coach Moser from Midway along with some strong Coaches who were already there, they have the right staff in place! Sweetwater loses some good skill players who have helped to turn this thing around, but if this staff stays together, there are going to be rewarded with some excellent players coming through the system in the next couple years. Then if you look down the road 2 or 3 more years, The Wildcats are gonna have a run of some really strong classes that could bring Sweetwater back to the true glory days, where they should be!!!!!.
  11. Sweetwater vs OS an old rivalry from what was the toughest region in the state a few years ago. reg 2-2a. Was always a hard hittin game! Sweetwater has acouple injuries but if they plays 4 quarters of football for the 1st time this year, then they will be to much for OS. 28-13.
  12. Loudon did a great job playin over their heads and beating a improved LC team. It won't happen 2 weeks in a row.... Alcoa 35 - 0 at the half. Final score depends on how the Alcoa Coaches decide to play the 2nd half.
  13. Sweetwater wins this 1. Sweet 34 - 14..
  14. 1st off I haven't seen Grace, but I would bet they don't have Mcminn Co. speed. Saw ND the last 2 years and even though Central is still down this is one of the teams I can see them getting a win over. 27-20..
  15. Was Wartburg missing alot of players when they scrimmaged Sweetwater and E Ridge? From the sounds of this thread they must have been missing several?
  16. I agree that Sweetwater looked horrible at Greenback. If you saw the scrimmage against E Ridge and wartburg it was totally different. If Sweetwater comes out fired up then they have to much offense for the bears. Davis can handle his business, thats for sure, but there are more playmakers (Arwood, Johnkins, Moore, Wicker, Massingill) and if the Cats spread the ball running and throwing they will score 4 or 5 tds. I always respect Tellico cause no matter what kind of team they have, they won't quit and they are gonna hit you! I just can't see Tellico scoring enough on Sweetwaters def to keep up, not just running the ball and on short passes anyways. I pray for everyone on both teams to comeout of the game injury free. If the players don't comeout ready to play ball then it could bea much closer game. 35 - 13. Play hard or don't play!
  17. Hey don't worry bout that sad drive over the ridge, Sweetwater knows how to do it, they do it once every 15 or 20 years.
  18. Yea then most years there would probably only be about 5-6 towns with better records than them out of 9. Overall it could improve some individual teams though.
  19. Bell for 300yds. I see Sequoyah getting about 600 total yds. Seq. 65 - 3 Sweetwater. ( Sweetwater kicks the fg to go up early and never crosses their own 30yd line after that!
  20. Tiger24fan, you didnt see this coming cause u saw sweetwater with several players out due to injury and a stomach virus. The runningbacks they had was a forth string back and 3 more that werent even on the depth chart at rb when practice began. Top reciever was out. top lineman. Maj, Your right Sweetwater did just play ok, they had chances they didnt capitalize on. But still did enough to get the win. Offense line slowed some with top lineman out for personal reasons, greenback was able to pressure Qb more which stopped a couple scoring drives. The two runningbacks we got back made a big difference #6 130yds in 2nd half. #15 Arwood helped even more on defense. #13 had 100yds recieving, killed them on run after the catch. #2 had a couple good receptions. #7 is one of the top run/pass Qbs in the area. #8 top reciever didnt even get involved much this game. There were some breakdowns on defense that helped Greenback alot, #44 top linebacker played but was slowed by sickness. but #13 and #59 both def ends lived in Greenbacks backfield. #50,#30,#24 also had some big plays. Defense looked decent besides the few mistakes they made. When #6 and #15 get back into football shape it will help alot more! Heres the good part 2,6,7,13,24,30,59 are all sophs or juniors. - I'm not saying Sweetwater is a great by any stretch, but they have been at a disatvantage with all the stuff that has went on the last couple years, but this coach is changing that to back where it needs to be they won't quit or lay down. Bad leadership last year, to much quiting and giving up in games, happened lastyear bigtime. I'm not downing Greenback in anyway they are a good team, but you saying pretty much it was all the Coaches fault, the kids were flat, the fans didnt cheer enough, the band played the wrong song. Greenback def line did look good for size and age, but Sweetwaters def line were the best line on either side of the ball and for either team. Good Qb and Rb. Greenback has a good team and I wish them luck the rest of the year.
  21. Scots50 is right ! Lets face it,the way the TSSAA changed the districts and the way you make the playoffs are both completly screwed up. The old way wasn't perfect by any stretch, but the way it is done now? Is that truely the best the brain trust could come up with??? Tried to solve problems but you just create others.
  22. OK here is a much more likely way that it will finish up. 1. Polk 2. Sweetwater, 3.McMinn Central 4. Sequoyah, 5. Meigs Co. Subject to change, cause most teams are capable of beating the other this year but as of now after 1st week I have it this way. Allwaysright time to change your name, lol.
  23. Close on the score if you flip it. ODELL - 54 yards rushing Sloan - 17 yards rushing Odeall is deadly when he has room to make people miss. The key is to get in the backfield and get him before he can get going. Which is what Sweetwater did! Don't kick to him. I repeat DON'T KICK TO HIM!!!Goodluck bears the rest of the way.
  24. Polk in 1st, no doubts. They are the Class of this region. I promise Sweetwater wil not finish in last place! If they get both linebackers back by week 3 and stay realitivly healthy they are much better than lastyear. Way better Coach, one of the better young coaches in the area. You will see. They were lost and wrong offense last year. Better offense this year and the players have a much better grip on it. Most of the young freshman and soph starters, and there were several, are a year older. Things are gonna change. With that being said, this isn't your average Sweetwater team, they will have to work hard, have more heart and change their attitudes to get better this year, and I believe they will, Coach Marsh will see to that! If some of the Sweetwater teams from the 90's and early 2000's would've been in this region, they may have never lost a region game. Don't get me wrong, some of these teams can and will get better, but this year the region is young and weak, not real good from top to bottom. 2-5 depends on alot of things. Among them, injuries, who improves the most throughout the year. 1. Polk, Polk, Polk. 2-5 we will see. Sweetwater,Central,Seq,Meigs.
  25. Jamboree is fine there. Sometimes I wonder bout how the comps are judged, but thats not that important. Sweetwater will start their 2nd team offense. Some starters won't play at all. Just like last year, Sequoyah will probably go out to win the Jamboree(They did lastyear) and I'm sure they will this year playin Sweetwater. Sorry for all those, young players that I hear about ,that will help the Sequoyah team this year. unless the stratagy has changed, you will be on the sidelines only. Sweetwater has found a real good Coach, and in the next few years things will be headed back where they usually are in Sweetwater! They are down now, but you better enjoy it while you can, cause in the future it will be bad news if they keep this Region together! Stay cool everyone, yea right!!!!!
