1 - Maryville, best player in East Tenn. with nice system and nice role players.

2 - William Blount, great senior leadership and better shooters then last year and incredible size.

3 - Farragut, much returning talent, but unstable coaching

4 - Bearden, great coaching, nice shooter but I don't think Kyle can carry it all himself.

5 - South Doyle, great young talent, great coaching, will play the hardest of anyone else in the league.

6 - West, the heat is on Coach Lindsay, how will they response?

7 - Heritage, new coach, same players, same results.

8 - Sevier County, no talent, it is all going to Pigeon Forge - even in football.

KNOKNO, what do you know about these programs, especially the one at Heritage. Now, I will admit that their past history has been horrendous, but they do have new coaches. And I must say they are two incredible coaches. Coach Rines comes from West High, where he turned the girls program around and Coach Wilson had a very successful career as head coach of the Heritage girls. As for saying that they are the same players, I would definitely disagree. Physically there might be 3 returners, and even those players have accepted new roles on their squad. I know this because I have spoken with the coaches and I have spoken with the players... they are a young team, so in response to your comment about "same players, same results," I would have to call you out on that one!!!! These boys are preparing themselves for a season that will turn heads, even yours!!!!

I'd be real careful before I counted Heritage out. I know Coach Rines worked with the Travelers? After being with them all those years, he sure knows how to win and run a successful program. He put together a competitive team at Knox West with the girls, which I thought would be impossible. Coach Wilson, their assistant coach, has won about 400 games with the girl's program and is a legend. With two coaches who know how to win like that, you can bet they'll be better than everybody thinks. I know they are young and I'm sure that will hurt them early on because there is now substitute for experience. But I'd be careful before I counted them out of anything. I don't think they can win the district championship or anything like that, but winning is an attitude, and I bet they'll have it.

    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
    • No movement on Chester? South Gibson? Gibson County?
    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
    • What is the hold up here? I have not heard anything in weeks. Are they waiting for the right person or is something else going on?
