Guest Sackmaster50
My bad for the way I phrased it - I meant that BGA has a pretty tough schedule for a D2-A school, not that their district schedule was particularly tough. Obviously, Knox Webb will be a "tough" D2-A game as will, imho, FRA. agreed
Croach
They are scrimmaging Stewart's Creek, the new High School in Rutherford Co. This should be interesting! Anyone know who else they scrimmage this year?
Rhyno1777
I believe we have Franklin and CPA set up for scrimmages, not 100% sure. Don't have the schedule in front of me.
nrgrizzlies
Saw BGA scrimmage today. My thoughts... Defense really flew to the ball and wrapped up in the first half of it. QB #5 was really quick and a threat to take off running out of the pocket if teams don't shadow him. The schedule looks very favorable from what I saw. I was more impressed with BGA than I was with Page who I saw last week. (have no idea if that is any kind of measuring stick or not)
WebbSpartans
Knox Webb has more students (almost 500) than BGA, BA and Ensworth, and was having absolutely no success in D2-AA until they moved down into a division where they are playing against schools that literally have less than 50 boys in the entire high school. More power to them and they have a good program, but it is a tad presumptuous for anyone to marvel at their success since they moved down If I lived in Nashville I wish I was Ensworth too. nrgrizzlies
Somebody sent me this pre-season computer ratings. I'm not sure how much I trust it as Ryan looks "over-valued" to me based on Hillwood beating them last season. Anyway, this is what they have at this point for the private school divisions... 1 ENSWORTH A2 0 0 0 00.00 156.96 6 MEMPHIS UNIVERSITY SCHOOL (MUS) A2 0 0 0 00.00 142.90 7 BRENTWOOD ACADEMY A2 0 0 0 00.00 142.70 10 BAYLOR A2 0 0 0 00.00 138.30 11 MONTGOMERY BELL ACADEMY (MBA) A2 0 0 0 00.00 136.25 18 CHRISTIAN BROTHERS (CBHS) A2 0 0 0 00.00 134.81 29 McCALLIE A2 0 0 0 00.00 129.43 46 BATTLE GROUND ACADEMY (BGA) A2 0 0 0 00.00 122.85 47 FATHER RYAN A2 0 0 0 00.00 122.21 51 BRIARCREST A2 0 0 0 00.00 121.67110 POPE JOHN PAUL A2 0 0 0 00.00 109.82121 ST. O3t
Well how much do you trust BGA's ranking since Ryan beat them last year?
Rhyno1777
My son is a freshman at BGA and they have scrimmaged Stewarts Creek, Franklin and CPA. I thought they did well in all three. Against Franklin we had some dropsies and missed tackles, probably just like others we just got to work on those things. Against CPA they did well and looked a little more polished. If you can say you won a scrimmage I would say they won that matchup. We are a little undersized but that's normal for us. It's hard to tell how well you match up with others even based off similar opponents and since most of our opponents this year will be new it's even more difficult to tell. I think there are a lot of good teams in this lower division, especially adding another multi winning state championship team. No matter where you played previously or now it's never easy to win it all and two teams in this division have done so consecutively. There are also other teams on the rise and I am hoping and believe we are one of them. We have great coaching and discipline so I would expect great success.
