Hate to see a player get hurt, especially a senior. Unfortunately it sounds like an acl. Dugger had no significant injuries the last couple years but the injury bug has hit Eliz hard this year. 3 of their top 7 players possibly out for the year.

Who will the full time point guard be while DePew is out?

Is McCurry going to try and play with the stress fracture?

Can't believe that no ones on here talking about the Lady Dogs. They went to North Greene last night in a crucial conference matchup. Both teams ranked in top 10 in "A" currently. North Greene bolts out to a 22-4 lead early in the 2nd quarter only to see Hampton battle back to only trail 29-17 at halftime. Then the Lady Dogs came out and scored 30 points in the 3rd and North Greene was stunned. Held on for a 57-54 win when it looked early on like they were going to get mercy ruled. I cant believe how much heart these girls play with. They may not be the tallest, fastest or most talented team but they are battling till the end no matter the circumstances. I am Proud of the players and coaches, even though I may have a heart attack watching them.

Also hate to hear the news of all the injuries that are happening this season. If I'm not mistaken Elizabethton, Cloudland and Unaka have all had players suffer injuries. I remember all too well 2 years ago when the Lady Bulldogs had "6 players" go down with knee injuries during the season. It is a helpless feeling. I wish the young ladies a speedy recovery.

For me it was either SG/Grainger or Hampton/NG. Glad I picked the latter. Was curious to see how Hampton#10 would respond to NG being ranked ahead of them in the polls. With the Dogs body of work i was expecting them to be ranked higher. Thought they might feel like they were being disrespected and want to prove a point. But the way the 1st half looked I was a little shocked I expected a better effort. But thats the way Hampton has been playing lately digging a hole and then storming back with guts, heart and amazing effort. But as the season wears on that may take a toll the girls looked emotionally and physically exhausted after the win. Id heard talk before the game Dugger was sick and early on she couldn't find her usual good stroke. Morrow and mcnese didnt disappoint they came out clicking and the dogs put the Huskies in the bonus early. By my count NG had hit 5 3's 1 2 pt fg and 12 ts for their 29 1st hlf pts. Whatever Coach Tolley said at the hlf he should bottle it up and sell it. The Lady Dogs came out on fire torching the nets for 30 pts in the 3rd with the Bowers kid pushing the tempo i had her with 6 assists in the 3rd and Dugger heating up and the Olvera kid dropping a few 3 bombs of her own it was a thrill to watch. NG didnt go away and down 5 Mcnese was the beneficiary of a questionable box out call on her 3 pt shot and getting the +1 cut the lead to 1. Bowers was fouled with 4 seconds left and calmly stepped up and drained both for the final margin. Ive seen alot of games/teams this year and what these girls do night in and night out with less talent and subs is something these ladies and their fans should be proud of the heart they play with and never give up attitude is amazing. I applaud these young women and their coaches they represent this area well!

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
